You're welcome.

There's really no other way to say it and I'm not apologizing for my honesty. That wonky saddle angle has no place on a bike that nice (and don't even try telling me it's comfortable).

I went for a ride today, first one on this frame. Still needs some tuning to fit well. Felt okay standing still in my basement. Not the most comfortable on the ride. The reason why is pretty clear from looking at the photo. But I could also tell it was off because of the weight on my wrists. I have, surprisingly ridden a bike in the past and can tell when a saddle is, or is not comfortable.

I do however, value your judgement so thanks.

New to me.....and enjoying the first few rides on the 08 Madison. Several things HAD to go, but the first to arrive was the set of cable clamps. Not only am I riding faster......farther....and with more style points, my co-workers are submitting my name for employee of the year, the grocery clerk double bags without asking, and the barista waves me off when I want to pay for coffee. Best yet, is my wife not pushing me away at night after coming back from a late night out with the boys.

....and here I though black zip ties were da bomb.....I've learned there is life after you ditch stock components.

I did the same thing to my 2010 Sprint. Those black tie-wraps looked cheap.

I'm test riding this later today: Schwinn single speed
I've been looking for an inexpensive SS and this seems like a good deal. I'd definitely add a rear brake after taking care of the headset. If the fit is good, that is...

Not crazy about the yellow wheels, but I actually like the frame paint with the rest of the yellow and that awful saddle gone!

Any red flags or other thoughts?

Well, update to the above, I absolutely loved it, but it's too small. Just going to keep on obsessively checking CL until another comes along...

that saddle looks super 70s/80s, i like it. Is it a bmx saddle?

Yup, the same model that Mongoose Californians used to be outfitted with in the '80s. Selle started remaking the Aeroyal several years ago. I like the Aeroyal saddle because it's low maintenance and pretty light (300g); whereas the Brooks Swallow in stainless steel is 490g and pretty high maintenance. The leather saddle is of course more comfortable than the plastic one, which is pretty hard on the sit bone
I was also going to go with a Thomson seatpost (clamp has lower profile) but unfortunately they no longer make the 27.0mm models in silver

The Madison takes a 27mm post? Weird, never knew that.

Yes but be careful, some of the 2008 models were built with 27.0mm seat tubes and others 27.2mm. There's been discussions on this and other forums about this known issue.

On my old Kilo TT (https://www.pedalroom.com/p/2007-merc...tt-29416_1.jpg) I ran my actual Kashimax Aero saddle from my BMX racing days in the early '80s. OMG, I can not explain how much "pretty hard on the sit bone" that saddle actually was.

LOL,that's a sweet config regardless

Truth be told, I think I put together the most uncomfortable contraption know to man (that's the thing about track bikes; they're designed for speed and responsiveness in mind... making little to no concessions for comfort) but I love her anyway :-p

PS: I think we took our pics in front of the same garage :-/

Im not usually a fan of color builds like that but it was so well executed

The saddle adds to the look!

None of you fine fellows and ladies has a 60-62cm '86 Schwinn Madison laying about you'd be willing to be paid handsomely for by any chance?

I had a thing for these back when I bought my mighty Schwinn Peloton, but didn't have the track or scratch to get one. Well now I have both...

...as well as two beloved '86 Pelotwins:

Or does anyone have an inside line on used track bikes other than Ebay? My size doesn't come up too often.

Nice work! This is my old Madison frame that was sold to a chud in 2014. Very relieved to see a proper owner back on the saddle.
