FSA with carbon disc

perhaps you could just get some old cranks powdercoated for cheap or just rattle can them...

They are purty. And at 49t, just the right size to go with WK's 12t cog. Anything less, and you're a wuss. C'mon, San Diego's mostly flat, right?

the problem with black parts [especially cranks] is that it's harder to see when they're cracked/about to fail.

I think FSA uses ISIS and I'm not completely sure that ISIS works well.

This will be for a new bike that I'm getting and I'd like to go with something.. quality. It's my first new bike...

Okay, first up, there will be NO SPRAYPAINTED PARTS NO WILLS NEW BIKE. I actually put that in the purchase clause, section C, paragraph B "There shalt be no spraypainted, lame, or cheap ass parts on William Karsten's spanky new yellow JustOneFix"

I'm not sure who does black road cranks. Hrm...lemme think. I think 105 used to be black, and the Truvativ Rouleur is also black. I dunno what peoples issues are with ISIS BB's. I've never had a problem, and think the standard is a pretty sound design. As with all things, don't get a cheap BB and you'll be apples.

Yeah, I just moved to Munich in the last 2 months. I hung out all the time downtown. Was a messenger there for about a year. I was in North Park. I used to cruise broadway all the time, as well as Ash and B st. I would cruise up either Park(less steep but longer) or 5th (steeper, but shorter). Do you know Kenton Hoppas or Frankie "Danger" DelaFuente?

My friends and I used to also ride a lot out to past the airport and way out to the Cabrillo monument.

I'll be coming back eventually, we should hook up for some fixie fun. There are a bunch of good bars in northpark and southpark.

The thing I love about that downtube? Hellishly easy to get the decals on straight! *thumsup* :)

the fact that the crank uses an ISIS bottom bracket would not be my first concern about those FSA vigorelli cranks.

the fact that is uses a carbon disc thingy instead of a traditional spider that is forged with the right-side crankarm is my first concern. i think those cranks are designed to ONLY BE USED ON THE TRACK, IE, don't even TRY to skid with them. i've seen them up close and they're not even that cool looking either.

i'd be worried about the carbon disc separating from the crankarm, not the crankarms themselves breaking. i've seen rivetted cranks/spiders separate, and i can't imagine that whatever bond they've made between the carbon and aluminum could be that much stronger, or hold up to the forces of riding a track bike on the street any better.

besides, sugino75 cranks are cheaper. they're not black, but you can get black rings for 'em...

whoever rides that bike, prolly rolls down the street yelling out "LOOK AT ME! ME! ME! ME! HEY YOU! LOOK AT ME! IT'S ALL ABOUT ME! LOOK OVER HERE, IT'S ME! YAY ME! ME ME ME!"
