I would have to buy a bike or take up drinking, boozing, and carousing. |
I'd buy one of these and piss everyone off by converting it to SS. Bar clip-ons would have to go, too.

On the 3 weeks to learn how to build a frame... this is just the basics.
Building a frame well takes a lifetime of devotion, much practice, and many failures along the way. Very true. But, maybe a new passion is discovered? I actually really like schnee's idea. Start somewhere around a grand, and "trade-up" while documenting the whole experience. |
probably would buy a road bike like others have said, and then take it on some nice long trips :)
|
A pair of these:
http://www.dbstudio-liege.net/materiel/+event_opal.jpg + a new mac pro, some room treatment panels, and a cheap fixay with whatever cash I have left over |
its got to be the carbon district.
|
I'd spend most on music: records, CDs, concerts, maybe some headphones and the rest on a mediocre fixed and a road bike as well as a professional bike fit. Saving the rest for the future.

Agreeing with the belt drive, although I'd take those stupid "car-scratcher" bars off. Not only will they inevitably lead to an ass-kicking/run-over-ing, but one fall onto those and you'll get served up with a lower-intestine shiskebob. Picture is crap, here's a link. http://www.cycles-for-heroes.com/bik...ear/peacemaker |

well played!

I'd buy half a bike. But, that's just what I'd do with 5k.

Probably build up a Cinelli MASH in green:
http://www.citygrounds.com/blog/wp-c...5/img_1666.jpg Such a pretty frame. Edit: I'd pocket the rest, I don't need a $5k bike. |
build a scrambler and decoupage it in 100 dollar bills
|
<3 my Cinelli Mash in Green. Rode it last night, it's freaking sweet.
So Mavic IO + Kilo TT anyone? Hahaha. In all seriousness, probably an Anchor Frame. =) http://velospace.org/files/IMGP1859.jpg Or a BMC Track Machine http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2245/...f34db2e2ed.jpg |
I'd buy a pugs... and a big dummy.
|

and the remainder....if any...on wimmin and scotch. Free money demands a stipend be allocated for vice. |
god those anchor frames are so hideous
