Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Time seems to be standing still

Here I sit at work with no work for the studio to do. Absolutely nothing. Thank God I can surf the net here on days like today. It's about 2:30 EST and I've got about another 1/2 hour before my lunch hour ride. Don't know where I'll ride today. Van Saun Park to watch the MILFs gossiping about today's soaps as their kids play on the monkey bars? Maybe. Or how about into downtown Hackensack and ride along Main St? Nah. Maybe I'll ride to Cosmic Wheel in Ridgefield Park and get me a new cycling cap. That'll be a good 10 mile roundtrip ride I think. We'll see. I'm damn hungry though. Maybe I should actually get a lunch on my lunch hour. Or perhaps I'll just pick something up on the way back and eat it at my desk. Decisions, decisions. Also contemplating about taking the front brake of. Dunno though. After reading about all the latest bike vs. vehicle posts here and on other sites, I'll prolly just keep it on and try not to use it as much as I have been. That's what I'll do. I was also thinking about replacing my clipless pedals and mtb shoes with clips and straps. That way I can just wear whatever sneakers I've got on...no need to bring a whole dressing room in to work. Worried about the stiffness of sneakers and clips though. But I may just take the cleats of my mtb shoes and use those. But then again. whenever I ride my SS mtb, I'll have to put the cleats back on. Damn. Maybe I'll look for shoes at the LBS. Then again, with my cash flow, or lack thereof, I prolly won't. Forgot to bring my camera today. I was planning on taking pics of whatever on my ride. Oh well. Damn. The time is now 2:41 and I haven't done a thing. Found out someone here either quit or got fired today. At least it wasn't me. That would definitely suck. Gotta feed the kids and pay the mortgage eh? Come on Powerball! Oh well, can't think of much else to say. Thanks for letting me waste some time.

I was almost gonna go back and proofread my post but then thought nah, How about I go to fyxiomatosis.com and check out the Ciao Melbourne photos? That was a better idea.

So I'm back from my ride. Eventful? Yes. Fun? Not really. I decided to go to Van Saun Park to check out the MILFs. On my way there I took a detour on account of some road work being done. Ended up doing a long climb. Prolly wasn't as long as it felt though. Thighs and lungs burning, I welcomed the short downhill that was to come. Take the turn into the park and end up pinchflatting. DAMN! Luckily a few weeks ago I decided to buy a CO2 inflator and an extra tube, just in case. Removed the flat tube, replaced it an mounted the tire to the rim. Had a heck of a time centering the tire in the drops. Must have done it 3 or 4 times! By the time I was done, there was no time to go sightseeing. Back to work I headed. Decided to take the road with the road work and had a blast passing cars and dodging between those big-ass orange barrel things. Arrived at my car, wiped down the sweat, changed and here I am sitting back at my desk, waiting the 2.25 hours until quitting time. Have a great weekend all and to those taking part in the BLT and the NYC Century, have fun and be safe!
