Noob question about sizing for fixie
Hey guys first post and first fixie. I have a 61cm bike and i am 6'1 wondering what the downfalls are if the bike is to big. I found it in the dupmster behind a local hardware store so I painted it and put new seat, grips, and pedals on it and it looks brand new, rides great too. Thanks for the help.

If its too big you probably wont be able to ride it. Your pedal stroke wont reach the bottom or if it does you will strain to make it happen. It will make it extremely difficult to ride the bike safely and its gonna be much much harder on your body. Can you throw a leg over it and stand with your feet flat? Or at least pointed a little? If you cant its just too big for you.
Edit: And when you get off your bike trying to look cool youll rack yourself on the top tube.

if you can stand over it flat footed without touching your crotch to the top tube you should be fine.
im 6'2 and ride a 58 cm, but i wanted it a tiny bit on the smaller side.
i mean, if you can ride the bike, its all good. no need to worry about it. if it turns out to feel a bit big on you (i think a 61 fits people 6 to 6'4 depending on torso and legs) then you can always lower the seatpost and possibly even get a shorter stem.

No brakes and no foot retention spell doom.
We can't tell you if the bike is too big without you on it, we don't know your body or you. If you feel like you have to stretch a lot to reach the handlebars, then your bike might be too big. Stand over height is not as important as tob tube length.

also, if you are riding this fixed gear, you NEED foot retention (cages or straps) and definitely should look into a front brake.
