that is sweet, and dangerous, everytime I skid I ware out the same part of my tire witch ends up going flat, also dangerous

rotate the rear wheel weekly, that's what I (try) to do

an odd/even chainring/cog combo will offset the skid so it's not in the same place everytime and will wear the tire evenly.

thats a nice skid. but nohands get more props. and one footed not handed gets even more props- as far as i know, lon, matt and daniel from chicago can pull of the dreaded "ballerina skid"

Nice pic. Its a lot easier than it looks, got it the 2nd time i tried(on asfalt). Not really dangerous as you can just step off over the bars.
Saw a guy from skotland skid without bar and seatpost - looks crazy.
All these crazy things you can pull on the trackbike is allmost half the fun

I'm still new at this(been riding fixed for little over a year now). I still can't do a decent trackstand w/ my non-dominant foot (would that be "goofy" trackstand, or is that just a board thing?). One handed trackstands at this point are iffy, and no-handed I can last for 5 seconds, tops. Granted the only time I really practice this stuff is at stoplights, and I usually stick to the comfy, basic trackstand there 'cause I don't relish the though of an audience of motorists watching me tumble.

Was reading someone's blog about the recent SSWC in Berlin...apparently during the festivities at some point a guy pulled off a nekkid, no-handed skid on a fixie. That's just *askin'* for road rash in all the wrong places...

Our company has to many employes, so there are some waiting on squares, so i spend it praticing theese things, right now its going backwards in a straight line. Thats is the most difficult thing i can imagine(or have ever tried).

yea- backwards circle i can do 3+, but no way can i do a straight line backwards. sucks.

we need posts of "jesus skids" too...i can do short ones :-D

It snowed enough here late last night to give the absolute perfect skidding conditions, so I went out and tried to learn how to do some of these crazy skids. After some interesting wipe outs, I've got a couple of technique questions:

1. Leg over the bar. The only way I could get this was by putting one leg over the bar while still riding and then initiating the skid. Is there some way of getting it there after you've started skidding?

2. How does a no-handed skid work? The rear pedal is pushing you up and forward, so with no hands what do you use to counter that force? Do you just pinch the saddle hard with your thighs? Or do you just go way back and put all of your body weight on the rear pedal?

No handed you lean forward and brace your thighs against the handlebars. The key to a long skid is to be as far forward as possible anyhow. Unweight that rear wheel.

I'll give it a try tonight and let you know if I've still got my manhood tomorrow...

Just put your balls on the stem and stop pedaling.
