aero bars on Fixed gear

Why is it so bad to have aero bars on fixed gear bikes when I am riding in long flat roads with no traffic and no group?

Go ahead. Get out of the wind.

Me, I'm comfy enough with bullhorns.

They look kinda funny. The question is, are you going to let my opinion stop you from riding your bike the way you want to?

Aerobars are cool. But, if you're fat and your gut laps over the top tube like a set of sloppy butt cheeks when you are in the bars consider one of those waist belt things designed to make you sweat. This way, your gut will be a single mass and won't slap against itself under the top tube when you go over bumps.

This is my aero FG rig. I get no style points for it, but it's the fastest setup on flat roads.

i feel like regular frames and bars dont get you forward enough and dont put the bars close and low enough.

Does the guy actually race or just works hard to look like he does?

Doesn't look like the cool kid's bikes but it works well for me. Somewhere between Fredtown and Speedville.

aerobars on the mash frame make sense. its close to having a full blown triathalon seat tuble angle, and the head tube is short.

Because you're more worried about form than function.

from my understanding, Garret isn't a messenger and doesn't "race". But omg. Im in love with his flexed calves. Im so jealous.

Ftw though, Idk. Its weird to see aero bars on a bike where the saddle isn't 50 feet in the air lol. If it works when its only like 5 inches out of the seat tube, then niiiice. But im used to seeing tri bikes with super steep geometry and saddles pushed high into the air. XD

But yeah. I like Garret's bike. Its super hot.

Yeah, me and Gary are like this.

I was the one who told him he needed those orange sunglasses to match the colourway.

A couple of years ago I set up my old Gazelle as a FG with aerobars for a triathlon with a pancake flat bike leg. Just went fixed for fun but ended up setting a PR.
