Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

R.i.p.

Dearly Beloved,

We are gathered here today to put to rest my Continental Giro tire. This tire was an amazing friend and companion. In its 6 month life span, it traveled between 3 different bikes. A Specialized Langster, a Pake, and a Pinarello Pista. It has seen many of roads and tons of different surfaces. It has conquered the streets of Colorado Springs, CO, the dirt roads of Pagosa Springs, CO, the alley ways of Durango, CO and the back seat of my car.

The tire was no longer convex in its old age. It had a wide flat spot all the way around it but that didnt stop this little guy. It kept truggin along, eating up everything that was thrown at it, asphalt, dirt, rocks, nails, even grass...

This tire may not have been the nicest of tires nor the most expensive of tires but a workhorse it was. It remained straight and true till the end of its days. It developed a bubble in its side 2 days before its demise. That did not stop it though. It held strong till the very last minute.

I say good night Continental Giro Tubular tire in 22mm wide. You were a good friend and will be missed. R.I.P.

I will pour some out for your tire.

And it might be time for nail clippers.

Please do. It may be too soon, but have you been thinking of another tire?

I have another set of Giro's but they are in Pagosa Springs right now and I have a set of Vittoria Rally's here with me.

Ill probably throw on the Rally's and destroy them in training and commuting and invest in a nice set of Conti Sprinters for the track next season.
