Your Favorite SADDLE thread!

hi there....

im sure this thread has been done. but i dont care so HA!
just curious, what is your favorite saddle? dream saddle? favorite riding? looking?

ill start.

my two fav at the moment would have to be my brooks b17 narrow, and fizik arione.
both comfortable in their own ways, and each are very nice looking IMO yet at the opposite ends of the spectrum look-wise.

anywho im in the middle of two builds (yes at the same time lol....one is a 700c coaster brake bike, the other fixed) and sort of looking at other saddles....like the looks of the turbo, kashimax....anyone hear of mundialita?

pics of your fav saddle on your bike = plus points ;p

I'll tell you what my least favorite is, the Toupe that is on my Langster. But it looks sweet, and it's super light. Guess you can't have everything.

2010 Fizik Antares Cervelo Team Replica Saddle

-and-

2003 Fizik arione Team saddle with champion stripe.

Can't seem to get away from the Fizik saddles, they just fit so damn well. Tried the Brooks and it's just not for me. Which sucks because I love the history and the looks of that damned beautiful saddle.

I put the Toupe from the langster on my track bike, and have fallen in love with the Brooks B17. I can't belive it took me a couple of decades to actually buy one. Its as comfortable as a horse saddle (come to think of it, that is mostly what its competition was back when it was designed).

I used to love the Brooks swift on my road bike the most, but then I got a Swallow for my fixed gear and it's even better.

I am still using one on my road bike that I bought in the mid-90's.
A couple years ago I picked up another one from eBay to put on my touring bike.
(It replaced a Brooks Swift Ti that I tried for a couple years).

Out of the few saddles that I've had, I like my Selle Turbomatic the best.

Does anybody have an opinion on the Charge bucket vs spoon?

Dunno why, but it just feels better. They're mostly the same shape on top, it must be something with the lack of leather on the side of the swallow and the extra support brace underneath that makes it flex differently or something. Maybe get one from wallbike.com so you can return if if you don't like it.

Any Fizik Arione; the better the materials, the better.

I also recently found my liking for the Prologo Choice Saddle as I found the ability to change a saddle cover/ pad (pretty wide selection) is pretty nice.

I/ my butt also like/ own the turbo, slr, regal, b17 (worn in :D ), and flite.

ianjk 07-27-10 01:05 PM

Old, broken in B-15 and a Japanese made Fujita Belt.

Haven't ridden synthetic in ages, my buns are very happy with leather.

Young Version 07-27-10 01:06 PM

I've ridden the Unicanitor (padded suede), the Turbo (suede), and the Concor Supercorsa (leather). I like them all, but the Unicanitor really works for me.

adriano 07-27-10 01:08 PM

ariones all the way.

Adriano what's the tooth count of the outer chainring of your Marin? It looks huge in the pic!

xkillemallx16 07-27-10 01:22 PM

Looks like a 55 or something. It's a 650c bike.

Brooks Team Professional.

easily the most comfortable saddle i've ever ridden. no break in time/you don't have to get used to it, its just awesome right away.

lilt 07-27-10 01:56 PM

Brooks Team Pro. Oddly enough they seem to fit me with not a lot of brutal break in period.

Although, looks wise, the Fizik Antares carbon saddle thing seems like a good match for a really mean race machine.

palu 07-27-10 02:04 PM

Currently have a good ol' Brooks B17, but just picked up a Selle SLK Carbon Fiber. No rides on it yet. Might be going naked. The thing weighs about as much as the rivits on the Brooks.

I know most people that try this saddle love it and that's cool. For me personally, it was horrible. From what i've read, i'm definitely a minority, but there was so much flex that the sides dug into my thighs, right at my groin, in such a painful way, it was literally unrideable. I did just about every adjustment I could and nothing really worked for me. It's sad because I had high hopes.
