I will be impressed if you can do a manual on a fixed gear.

Tricks on fixed-gear bikes get old period. There's only so much you can do. Ive seen a couple of guys do tail whips....but only like twice. EVER.

I see keo spins EVERY single video. I see backwards circles EVERY single video. I see 180 jumps EVERY single video, and bar spins EVERY single video.

Im not hating on the tricks scene, but I just never understood why somone would use a track bike for tricks. Im with Deshi. TBH, im kinda tired of looking up fixed-gear videos on youtube and ONLY seeing trick videos. The only good videos that I see of people mashing on FG/SS are the videos out of SF and NY. They still do tricks in those videos, but at least they mash. Their entire video does not consist of the same old tricks.

Im not a BMX rider, but from the very little that Ive seen or followed, there are far more tricks/variations on tricks available to a BMX rider than are available to a FG rider.

But heey. whatever floats your boat.

Im also with scrod. I get a kick out of blasting through traffic. Tried doing tricks and was hella bored.

But again. If it suits you, then thats cool and all the power to you. Mashers unite.

On the topic of FGFS: I don't do it, and if I did, I'm sure I'd only be OK at best. It's not my bag. I'm sure doing it is fun, though. I get a kick out of no-handed trackstands, and backwards circles, so I'm sure that doing other tricks plenty fun/more gratifying to do. Furthermore, with anything people can ride/drive/pilot, pushing the limits of what can be done always happens, so it's expected.

However, in terms of watching fgfs or getting excited about it, it's just "not there yet" as a sport. In terms of the practicality, bmx bikes are far better engineered towards doing tricks. I understand that the fixed drivetrain makes tricks more technically challenging, and allows for some tricks not usually accessible by bmx, but as a whole, the tricks are of a far lower caliber. Until the tricks advance to a similar level as current bmx tricks, the fixed aspect of it only seems like a novelty. If you want to dick around on your bike and have fun doing it, then by all means, go for it. That's not to say that FGFS won't eventually be "there" as a sport, but in the meantime, don't show it to me like it's something TRULY impressive, when it's just a stepping stone.

On the "edit" discussion: It does make sense. Usually, ride footage is shot with a group of people, and generally goes toward a full (or full-er) "feature" skate/bmx/ride/whatever vid. From what I've seen, an edit is similar to the remix of a music track: drawing from the same overall ride footage and either simply editing the video to different music, to achieve a different pace, etc, OR taking footage of (a) specific rider(s) from the full video, and compiling it in a single, shorter video.

calling it an "edit," without the release of a full length, group, or otherwise original video is a little weird. like calling a song a "remix" before the original song was released... but whatever.

dont understand why these videos are called "edits"
dont understand what the camera man is trying to film.. he keeps panning away.
dont understand why you're doing tricks on a fixie
dont understand why u arent wearing a helmet

oh and I dont care.

Attention *****?

Keep bumping this thread if you want to. All that will happen is that you will probably get flammed to hell and back. Then guess what's the first thing that pops up when people google your name? That's right, this thread where you got flammed to hell and back. Not a smart move.
