For the same reason you do tricks on any kind of bike - it's fun.

It's light and is fixed. It does open a new dimension in trick "ease" but these urban edits I keep seeing are not doing anything new: a couple stairs, gaps and barspins. 1995!
Now the typical European freestyle video such as below. THAT turns my crank.

WHY DOES EVERYONE CALL VIDEOS "EDITS"????!???!
it's like calling a photograph a "develop"
sure it happened at some time during the production... doesn't mean you have to call it that just because the word is one or two letters shorter.
yo, check out my new Encode. i did some pretty awesome tricks on a bike that makes them look wholly unimpressive and awkard looking. The last encode didn't include clips of me wearing my new T-level windbreaker so i had to do this Encode.
I don't call anything what it is anymore because i'm from a subculture and we brand ourselves because we're so much cooler than anyone else.
it's called a video, people.

Very skilled riders indeed but its almost as boring as watching penguins ****. Just my opinion.
Trick away if it floats your boat. Its not for me.

I was pretty bored until I saw the scooter kid, then I saw the rollerblader and it may have made my day. Totally need some blades now. First song was pretty cool also.
also: What's that British(?) guy that does insane tricks on a hardtail? Like rolling up trees and doing backflips 20ft in the air.

re: tricking in general - go ahead and do whatever you like, but i think it's kinda boring to watch after 30 sec. but that may be because i can't do a lick of it.

I, too, think the rollerblader was the best part. I'm just not into fixie trix. But, I find VIDEOS (I'm also of the opinion that calling these "edits" is irritating) like Mash and the old Lucas Brunelle stuff really exciting. Most people don't. I love blazing superfast through traffic, I get a thrill watching others do it too; whereas I'm bored in 2 minutes trying to do tricks.
