get well quick bro!

JohnDThompson 08-08-10 02:16 PM

Chest tubes suck. Every time I breathed I could feel it moving around in my chest. Got it out after a week and all has been good since then.

Hmmmm, luckily I was in a coma for two weeks when I had my chest tube...feeding tube was still there when I came out though...

That sucks. They tried to give me an IV this morning. I told them I don`t want any extra holes in my body and they could only put one in me if an emergency arises. I`m so happy I`m in Canada and this won`t leave me with any medical bills to deal with.

crackrocksteady 08-08-10 03:09 PM

drag city man.

sounds like you got moxie though, good luck on the recovery!

Well I have scars from lots of holes they put in me, that's what happens when you are living off machines for two weeks. Thankfully I am here still, and thankfully you seem to be on the way to recovery as well. It's a long road let me tell you, keep your head up.

ph4nt0mf1ng3rs 08-08-10 08:26 PM

I also wish you a quick recovery!

Crappymonkey 08-09-10 11:10 AM

I went for an xray today and it is the same as yesterday so they are going to try taking out the chest tube this afternoon. If I don't have any breathing problems I'll go for another xray tomorrow morning and if 'm not leaking air I can go home :) Too bad fixing a lung isn't as easy as patching a tube :P

That's why I huff a few ounces of Stan's every season.

avner 08-09-10 12:10 PM

Bummer dude, best wishes.

ilikebikes 08-09-10 12:10 PM

Did you manage to punch the old ***** in the face?

Wouldn't have been so bad if it wasnt for the collapsed lung, that's gotta suck. How do they fix that?

And yeah i'm always very watchful of left turning cars when im crossing intersection.

The real question though is why a 92 year old woman allowed to drive a vehicle?

Patches and an airpump.

Thanks so much everyone.

The way they fix a collapsed lung is to cut a hole into your side between your ribs and insert a plastic tube to drain out the leaking air and blood. My tube is draining thro9ugh atmospheric pressure but they can also use a patches and a pump if it needs to be vented faster. I have to wait till the perforated lung corrects itself before they can remove the tube.

I have the ladies car insurance number but I'm going to be contacting a personal injury lawyer tomorrow to see what they suggest I do.

Told ya!

BTW, Get well dude, all you have to do is relax and rest, your body will do the rest. ;0)

JesusBananas 08-09-10 05:11 PM

Damn dude, that sounds painful. Hope you get better, and hope the insurance covers the cost of a brand new bike! :thumb:

Sorry that I keep bumping the thread but I just got some good news. The doctors came in and listened to my lungs today. They tell me that they sound good and I'll be able to go home later today! I'm looking forward to getting out of here.

Best wishes for a solid recovery and for getting some financial reparation.

I feel jumpy when riding and driving, for this very reason. And the population is getting older.

Respect those who deserve respect, let the rest of them take a taxi.

misha1551 08-10-10 08:46 AM

Wish u a speedy recovery man! Bikes can always be replaced ;)

robnoir 08-10-10 08:55 AM

I wish you a great recovery. I got slammed by a driver going wrong way down a one way street. My road bike was absolutely destroyed and I went through a windshield. I had to see a lawyer about my hospital bills and I'd do the same if you can't pay them. Best of luck hope it all turns out well.

tofoot 08-10-10 09:44 PM

from one Torontonian to another... get well soon!

Shrox 08-10-10 10:35 PM

Hope you get back on the horse soon. Makes me want to start riding with brakes :/

That's good news dude! Hope you're feeling better.

Take your time to recover that thumb o' yours though, you don't want to mess it up again. :P

Thanks again everyone. I am home today and I just recently got back from the hespital for a follow up on my thumb. As long as I don't move it it should be ok in a couple of months. I also spoke with a lawyer and they want to probably go ahead with a lawsuit and meet up with me tomorrow for a meeting. I already posted these in the Kilo TT thread but here's how my bike wound up after hitting the car. Do you guys think the front wheel will still be ok or do you think I need to order a new wheelset (no rush as I probably won't be doing much if any more riding this season)?

I won't post the pictures of myself with the chesttube so you guys don't get grossed out by the mild gore and my shirtless body lol.

I'd wait until you hear from her insurance, IMO you should be getting a brand spanking new bike.

First thing I though when I saw that fork was of MuckyMucky's kilo ;)
