Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? halp! re: long term rain

I didn't see this directly addressed after using the search function.

anyway, I have been away from home for 4 months, I still am.

I left my possessions including my Keirin steel frame track bike in the care of my parents in miami, FL. I asked them repeatedly if they had left my bike in a dry place (which they assured me they did) only to have found out from a friend who rode past my house the other day that in fact, it is being kept in outside in patio area that has SOME cover from the elements, but is still exposed.

its been moved inside now but I'm terribly afraid that when I return home my beloved bike will have been destroyed by the elements. The wheels, crank, mechanical parts can all be replaced but the frame is one of a kind. please ease my worrying soul and tell me that the frame is ok and un-repairable damage has not been done to it by 4 months of exposure to miami (re: RAIN) weather.

thanks

i have no idea. it could have been treated when it was made considering keirin goes on rain or shine (this is a retired racer) but I really am not sure.

I'd be more concerned with the corrosive salt in the ocean air.

I'd be more concerned about the security of the bike.

Nice bike left outside = free stuff for thieves.
