Yeah, sounds like he's an eager beaver looking to capitalize on Kryptonite's recent misfortune. I can't help but think that's the smart thing to do, but that sort of overreaching can only backfire.

seems like the smart thing to do to me too...but i was swimming in the BS...thing is, he wasn't even a REAL OnGuard rep...he was the rep for Topeak...i guess they carry onguard now too...sad thing is, we can get all those locks from other suppliers already. all we care about from topeak are their bags and pumps, and whatever else they make with their brand on it...which we can also get from other suppliers.
he was also saying that the onguard 10mm chain is hexagonal, but the kryptonite NYC 10mm chain uses square links...which i really wanted to call B.S. on, because he was oh so wrong.

I just called and they said I'd be getting my shipping labels sometime around January 1st. Ugh... Info submitted on September 18th, shipping labels on January 1st.

I originalled emailed my info to Kryptonite on the first day that the program was set up.
This was before the online submission form was set up as the "official" way to communicate.
I emailed first on September 22nd.
Then I found the online submission form on October 12th.
So far, I haven't received a shipping number. But today I received an email that said I needed to check my and update my information at their website. AcK! Still no shipment number.
Lucky for me I've taken to bringing my bike right into my office.

so now kryptonite tells me that until they find out where ups sent my lock they can't send me another one. some bs about a lock for a lock, like an eye for an eye, i guess. but this totally blows. the lock is obviously lost. i did everything right, why are they punishing me more? i was cool with this exchange deal, but now i am pissed and buying an on guard shackle tonite. anyone else have problems with ups/kryptonite not willing to remedy the situation?

Can't you take this up with UPS? They delivered it to the wrong address. I thought all UPS packages automatically insured for $100 bucks?

UPS Label Delivery
This notice alerts you KRYPTONITE/PREMIER PACKAGING has sent you an electronic UPS Return Label.
Message from KRYPTONITE/PREMIER PACKAGING:
To exchange your Kryptonite lock: Put your lock(s) and at least 1 working key into a box. Attach the UPS return tag and drop off at a UPS location.

My favorite OnGuard is just big enough to fit around a standard mountain bike rear wheel with "standard" size tires and a typical size bar on a typical rack. No large "empty" spaces to insert tools. A couple pounds lighter than a New Yorker, and $20 or $30 less in cost. All in all, perhaps the most secure lock in the "under eight pounds" category.
Later this week, I'm expecting my replacement locks from Kryptonite. For a laugh, I may take four or five of them with me to the movies. A twenty-five pound bike with thirty pounds of locks.

I just got an email today asking me to verify my details online. I wonder if and how long it will take them to replace my lock considering I'm in Australia.
Has anyone had any luck sending in a lock without its key?

It would appear that Kryptonite does not care about fulfilling anymore replacement locks as I have been waiting since September.
If anyone else has been waiting this long too, and has not recevied email correspondence, call 800-240-0802 and let them know. Multiple times. I have been and have received 4 different answers. Pathetic.

I was enjoying one of the new locks Kryptonite sent me the other day. I registered the first or second day that the "exchange" form was on-line and got the new locks December 8th. It is my impression that the company uses the "exchange" forms to place orders for specific models of locks with their supplier in China. When the new locks that "match" a given exchange form reach Illininois from China, the UPS labels are sent out.
So, someone exchanging just one basic model might get their UPS label before someone who registered a model A, a model B, and a model C. And, there were a couple of things on my exchange form that Kryptonite wanted to clarify. A nice lady phoned me to get things pinned down, and the mailing labels followed within a few hours. But, if I had not been home when she phoned, that would have added to the delay.
Millions of locks. Millions of owners. The nice people at Kryptonite are dancing as fast as they can.
