Pedal Straps?

I've been wanting foot retention for a while now so I bought some toe clips/straps. They are not very comfortable and seem very awkward to ride (i am actually more efficient with platforms). For various reasons i can't use them.

I was about to give up but then I tried a bike with powergrip/holdfast style strap only pedals, and they worked brilliantly. My question is, is there any way to get these strap setups cheap (sub $10 each), make them cheap, or maybe use just the straps from a traditional clip/strap setup?

Thanks.

$10? no. Prepare to spend atleast $60~80 for a new pedal+strap.

pedals/clips and straps are probably the cheapest form of foot retention out there. Someone who posts here made their own and said they worked well. I feel like if you have any skill with a sewing machine it would be pretty simple.

Bikes: trek t1

Powergrips(not ideal for FG w/o brakes) and holdfasts are different styles/types of foot straps

Make your own. Save 30-50 dollars and be done with it. They dont have a name brand on them, but they do the job.

Old vans and a roll of duct tape. Make sure the vans are slightly bigger---half size---and tape them to yer pedals. Insert feet and ride. When at yer destination, remove feet but leave shoes taped to pedals. Cheap clipless.

You know what they say, if you don't use it you loose it.
