I'm not really sure how far I could throw a measurement but probably not far.

Ok.. 34-ish.. mph.. I was passing cars at the time.. so maybe it was faster.. *shrug

On flat land I used to hit 34.6mph. Now that I am old and worn I can hit 30mph.

By my math at 42mph and 77gi you are doing 183 rpm. Even if you computed gi using a 27" diameter tire, but were were really using say 700 x 23c clinchers with a 26.3" diameter, you would still only be doing 188 rpm. Still, that's pretty good spinning.

sorry...46x16, 700x23. rabbit says 75.6gi, just under 190rpm. pardon f'ing me.

it was neither pretty nor extended.

42mph, downhill, 77gi...~200rpm.

If you were doing 188rpm, that is impressive.

I did 38mph (downhill) with 42x16 gearing - that is about 183 rpm. It wasn't pretty.

I do the same speed on the track with 48x14 gearing, which brings me down to ~140rpm.

teh fastest maximum velocity I've gone on my bike is super cereal.

My knog nerd HBMCS can seriously attest to that.
