Spelling lesson

Please people, use the proper word for what you mean.

Peddle = sell or offer for sale from place to place
PEDAL = A lever operated by one's foot that is used to control a machine or mechanism, such as a bicycle or piano

Break = interrupt: terminate; "She interrupted her pregnancy"; "break a lucky streak"; "break the cycle of poverty"
BRAKE = a restraint used to slow or stop a vehicle

There are many more but I am too lazy to write them down. Oh and sorry for wasting your time.

seau grateau 10-07-10 04:20 PM

Thank God someone FINALLY said it. Now nobody will ever misspell these words again.

illdthedj 10-07-10 04:29 PM

The pedal peddler will break the brake

I may be new, but I know forums arent a place for perfect spelling. If i wanted to learn gramtically correct statements I would enroll into an english class... (fml i have to soon anyway). We should all know what the idea of the statement phrase is anyway. Commonsense or no?

PedallingATX 10-07-10 07:11 PM

SRAM=SRAM...not SHRAM

KSYRIUM=SEERIUM not CKSURIUM

Unfortunately my Litespeed "Pisgah" is pronounced "Piss-gaaa". Or is it?

FastJake 10-07-10 09:51 PM

How do you pronounce Cannondale?

Dr. Banzai 10-07-10 10:04 PM

Cannon Dale.

seau grateau 10-07-10 10:06 PM

Oh, thought is was like... "kuh-NON-da-lay" or something.

Dr. Banzai 10-07-10 10:07 PM

Someone recently called my bike a See Nell.

FastJake 10-07-10 10:10 PM

The first time I read a word, my brain's pronunciation of it tends to get stuck in my head forever. I still think "rally" when I see Raleigh, and "peg - ott" when I see Peugeot.

zigmin 10-07-10 10:11 PM

mercier = MER SAY URRR>!@#R#G

Ha, what a noob.

It's clearly Sea-Niel.

1nput0utput 10-07-10 10:49 PM

This one gripes me quite a bit:

mixte = meext, not mix-tee

And then people spell it mixtee or mixty or mixtie… Ugh.

JesusBananas 10-08-10 12:23 AM

I like how this has become a pronunciation thread. :lol:

Not noticing your sig, that one took me a little bit of thinking to figure out. Did they think it was three L's or something?
