Risers or Bullhorns?

Risers or Bullhorns, which do you prefer? Or do you use drops? Why do you use what you use? I personally use bullhorns for the extended hand position options, but am thinking of switching to Risers as I live in a flat, flat city. Just interested in opinions/ideas.

I find it amazing I have yet to see a poll for this, or maybe I'm just blind.

Neither. Mostly ergo road drops with hooded brake levers, flat bars on mtbs, track drops on the track racing (velodrome) bikes. Basically, road drops with hoods afford the same riding positions of bullhorns plus additional drop positions, and the hoods are more comfortable than the forward position on bullhorns.

The wife's got a set on one of her bikes. They're nice but a little too shallow for me.

I prefer my Nittos:

I'm contemplating bullhorns for a build-in-progress though.

I've got several bars, bullhorns and risers are being used the most. Second is road drops then last is track drops.

I've got Soma risers too (from Scrod actually) I like them. But like he also said, they are to shallow.

I use FSA compacts and hoods, but I'm okay with bullhorns. Risers feel like I'm going to fall off the bike, I dunno why.

I ride the original bars that came on my early '70's Raleigh conversion. I have no idea who makes them. They are just road drops (no hoods). I like them quite a bit, since I ride in the drops about 85% of the time. Tops or no hands the rest of the time.

if some risers are too shallow for you, then you must be really far away from using drops!

adrianos bicycle fit parameters:

head tube*0.786=stem length
height*0.371=cockpit=stem+top tube
height*0.057=maximum bar drop

Why choose just one? Risers + bar ends.

a true track bike will have a more aggressive riding position than most roadies which is why some riders just run bullhorns instead of drops as the drop position is too extreme for realistic road use. risers are fine for going to the bar or getting coffee but if you actually ride your bike any real distance you will appreciate the multiple hand positions bullhorns offer. if you are riding a bike that is more road than track i suggest drops with hoods as this offers the best of all worlds.

I always love this generalization.

I ride my bike some pretty good distances and while I can agree that having an extra hand position would be a plus, I've never had any bad experiences with risers.
