An improvement over the previous video. I actually laughed at this one.

Dude, you are going to have to do your own research and make your own conclusions and opinions. That is the point of the assignment. The point is not to "Ask a forum to do your work for you and turn in whatever they give you." Is it?

Fixies are very obscure and underground, most of the people in the audience probably won't even know what one is they will be like "what is a fixie that is very obscure and underground only bike messengers know about them!"

OP - I'm going to repeat the response given to your first post 9 months ago by member HandsomeRyan (sic):
How many online forum group members does it take to change a lightbulb?

◘ 1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.
◘ 4 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.
◘ 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.
◘ 6 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs.
◘ 5 to flame the spell checkers.
◘ 4 to correct spelling/grammar flames.
◘ 6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"...another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive
◘ 2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp".
◘ 5 know-it-alls who claim *they* were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct.
◘ 1 to email the participant's ISPs complaining that they are in violation of their "acceptable use policy".
◘ 9 to post that this group is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb group
◘ 3 to demand that cross posting to hardware forum, off-topic forum, and lightbulb group about changing light bulbs be stopped.
◘ 2 to defend the posting to this group saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts *are* relevant to this group.
◘ 6 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique, and what brands are faulty.
◘ 7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs.
◘ 4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's.
◘ 3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group.
◘ 3 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too".
◘ 2 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.
◘ 9 to quote the "Me too's" to say "Me three".
◘ 4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ.
◘ 4 to ask what is a "FAQ".
◘ 4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
◘ 3 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs".
◘ 1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again....

Funny thing is, I am doing a 'How-To' speech for one of my college Classes, and it's 'How to be a Hipster'

Included in the speech is a bit about fixed gears, and included in that bit, is a quote from a signature from a member on this board, 'If it's not Fixed, It's BROKEN.'

/speech

im not asking you guys to draw conclusions and opinions. im asking for some facts. i figure you guys would have pictures of these kinds of things, but i realize now that most of the people on this forum are too self absorbed and cant spend 10 seconds to find a file from their computer but can spend 10 second to think of a 'witty' reply. thanks yall

but for those who can help, pictures would still be much appreciated.

Facts? What facts do you want from us?

I'm pretty sure you know by now that we are not those who care about the stuff you are trying to make speech about. It actually is the worst subjects one could ever ask on BFSSFG, just go find the Jared Leto thread and you'll see. However, we might be able to help you with more mechanical problems; how it works, bike geometries, frame materials, wheel materials, track athletes, velodrome...etc etc. A lot of the members are grown adults who probably doesn't care about the fashion stuff that are related to fixed gears. Then again, if you're pitching to a different type of audience, then you might be fine.

What kind of audience are you pitching it to? I wouldn't exactly say you are doing a "fixed gear speech" but more or less about the roles fixed gear play in the pop culture.

Google images yield many results for celebrities on fixed gears.

My reply took more than 10 seconds, thank you.

Also, are you typing from a cell phone or something? All of your posts are devoid of capital letters and apostrophes.

Oh, and if you follow the link there is a thread with 300+ pages of photos. There's an even better thread with almost 100 pages of photos. But, that probably requires research, albeit clicking through 2 threads as opposed to reading the replies we write in this one.

Dammit. I spent more than 10 seconds again.

OK, I feel bad now, being one of the grown adults here.

On message boards, specific questions get specific answers. No one is here to write speeches. But, we are a helpful bunch...in general.

Providing a vague outline for your speech isn't exactly gonna get us excited enough to write 500 word replies.

Specific questions are:
- Can you help me find 5 celebrities who ride fixed gear bikes?
- Have fixed gear bikes been used in movies, TV shows, or commercials? If so, how?
- Are fixed gear bikes featured on clothing like tshirts? If so, examples?
- Who is Sisyphus?

The slash isn't right there. It should read, "6 to point out spelling and grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs."

Just sayin'.
