Gt Track bike?

I'm on a spending spree it seems (with money I don't have none the less) I just found this GT track frame for something affordable. Can anyone ID its value or model? http://images.craigslist.org/3p73oe3...a3ee5d135f.jpghttp://images.craigslist.org/3n33kc3...fdf04b1e56.jpghttp://images.craigslist.org/3md3pc3...89480613bf.jpg

God that's sexy. I am just going to guess and say its the gt kinesis frame

Scrodzilla 10-26-10 01:02 PM

Ask the seller?

avner 10-26-10 01:37 PM

he didn't know anything other then it's a gt tarck. Wants near 300. If I an talk it down to around 200 I'll take it I think. Triple triangle is too much sex.

Its a pulse or kinesis. My freind payed $400 for his and that was a good deal. That is an awesome frame. Take it at $300, worth it.

Gyeswho 10-26-10 09:52 PM

I'd ask for better pictures 1st. Also ask him to take a pic of the BB shell. That will confirm whether it's a pulse or gtb. If it's a pulse, it'll say Kinesis Aluminum on the bottom of it.

It was gutterball. had a crack in the frame that was badly welded. I did not take it.

coma061 10-27-10 03:45 AM

What a shame! I wish my bike had proper rear drops!

i saw that too. you sure it's a gutterball? the gutterball has fatter tubing and does not have the seat tube piercing the top tube.

avner 11-06-10 01:07 AM

It was implied the Kinesis was aluminum and given that this frame was cracked and welded I could only conclude that it was made of Steel, although if my logic is erroneous please do correct my fallacy.

Related, but I can't help but to ask what's the difference between these GT track frames/ why are certain models (more specifically the pulse/ kinesis) desired aside from the triple triangle?

avner 11-06-10 03:04 AM

yeah, what she said

GT/ triple triangles = sexy

Loryn 11-06-10 05:00 AM

What he ^ said, but they'd even be more alluring in Reynolds 631 or higher.

Gyeswho 11-06-10 07:55 AM

Pulse was made by Kinesis which was a better Alu than the GTB. Pulse also came with a Easton alu fork. GTB came with a steel fork.

I love triple triangle frames. I have three GTs :) That frame is not a Gutterball, I have one and I love it in all its aluminum goodness.

yeah I don't know wtf it is. I'm kind of confused now. I guess you can weld aluminum? anyway i'd rather not eff with the thing but damn I wish I had a GT.

yummygooey 11-06-10 11:22 AM

Yes, you can weld aluminum. How else is aluminum tubing joined together for bike frames?

PFM.

[pure ****ing majic]

Aluminum can be welded. It is more difficult to do so than it is to weld steel. If it's cracked, skip it though, others will turn up. And yes, triple triangles are sexy, I love mine and its fillet brazed 853

yummygooey 11-06-10 12:04 PM

Aluminum is so friggin hard to weld compared to steel. You can go from fine and dandy to too hot in a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a second and melt a hole in the tube set you spent 4 hours preparing.

There's a professor here that can weld aluminum foil to aluminum foil. That's "majic".

trust the MECH E. haha

avner 11-06-10 02:35 PM

right. You can weld aluminum and for me to make a statement to the contrary made me wish gt35 were here to ream me for my carelessnes. Generally what I had hear was that once a alu frame was cracked it generally was done in. Which makes sense given that posters above said it's so difficult to work with.
