If he's gonna sell it, then he should sell it. If not, then otherwise you are just renting it...which is BS. That bike really isn't that hot. It was hot back in 2004-2005 or so because there wasn't that much to choose from. It was different. That's why the Pista Concept was hot, too. Happypills, you have a lot more modern stuff to choose from for cheaper. And for god's sake, don't buy it because *we* think it's hot. Only buy a bike because *you* think it's hot. (for the record, I don't think it's hot. I think it's nice. But not hot.) |
renting it for free would be awesome. i give you 500 dollars now, you give me 500 dollars if you want it back. you get all the riding time and use with only losing interest, no capital.

Then there is the chance that things would get weird later. Like: - How long? - What if I'm not ready to return it (like if I don't have another bike) - What if it has new scratches or dents? - What if I'm ready for a new bike and want to get my $500 back, would the seller be ready to give me my $ back? A straight up sale is the best way. |
It's just a stupid bike, seriously.

I think the Cannondale is a pretty bike. Worth $1000+ as a frameset? Not to me... but obviously there's a market for it. It seems like a big part of owning a Cannondale Track is the cult-like status it has, for whatever reason it may be. A 20 year old set of aluminum tubes really isn't worth that much.

Well in my opinion it looks like eye candy to me... probably that's why I want it.... especially that shade of blue and hydroforming combination.

True, but I'd never feel like the bike was truly mine.

I'll buy one of those H+ frames in half a heartbeat when they do come out.

My question now, knowing all the scams and no paying people on ebay, how many of those bikes were actually paid for at those prices. We will see if the bikes end up back on auction.

I totally agree with your sentiments Deshi that legitmate buyers are nowdays all but excluded from bidding on anything on ebay with the keywords "fixed gear" or "track" or "Njs" because of all the price escalating, non-paying people but these bikes were not relisted else I would have known about it.

those h+ knockoffs look good, but they messed up the "cantilever dropouts" on the old school cannondales (unless that was done intentionally).
you can get a lot of bike for 4-500 (frameset/fork) nowadays, new or used. i understand the hipster tax in effect but paying 1g for a 15 year old frame (regardless of frame material) is ridiculous (i've owned 3 titanium road bikes, complete with decent components, and not one cost more than 9 bills). not to mention, i've seen many hipsters with the og c-dale track frames who are doing tricks on them and putting the frame through abuse it wasn't meant to withstand. they soon realize that they picked the wrong frame (steep head angle, steep rake, toe overlap, forward sloping top tube) for doing tricks but because they stupidly paid an arm and a kidney for them, they won't sell for less than they paid. |
they should make it out of scandium.

"custom drawn Scandium 61.10 metal matrix tubing" "Frame weight is just 2.3 lbs" I don't think I'd mind so much if it was made of scandium, cause it's hella sexy |
Ugly saddle and seatpost but oh meh gaahd. DO WANT BADLY.
|
Hmm doesn't scandium supposedly have a shorter life span?
|
i'm riding a ten year old scandium frame and it feels ****ing amazing.
