Value of a cannondale track?

Not sure if this is the right place but....

Does anyone know the approximate price/value a 1993 Cannondale Track? Specifically one that's 52cm, cannondale track metallic blue, and in near perfect condition (never seen the street)? With king headset and phil BB & sugino grand mighty.

Let's just say the bad economy is helping me score one from a friend in need. His a good friend, so I want to keep it that way and pay him something in the ballpark of its worth. :D

I think the going rate is 1.45 pista concepts.

Haha! Right after I took that pic, Syd started smacking Angie in the elbow every time she tried to take a bike like he was trying to knock it out of her hands. So good.

That is so cute...such intense stare.

Cat derailments ftw.

Once I get it; but I know for sure he treats his bikes well and I have seen it once before. Anyways when I get it, it'll be at my house all the way in the bay area, while I'm trapped here in grad school all the way in san diego...

Anyways I'm thinking somewhere in the ball park of $1k?

PedallingATX 11-02-10 11:11 PM

tough to say. At least a g, tho

JDMFanatic 11-02-10 11:42 PM

I just picked up a blue cannondale track as well... but I got a steal for mine...
I've seen framesets in good - near perfect condition go for almost 1000$... f/f/hs only.. I'd say that things worth around 1,100$-1,200$~

You won't regret the purchase... here's a pic of mine...

The conversation starts with, "What amount are you comfortable selling it to me for?"

If the answer is more than you can afford, then you say, "Well, I can't really afford to spend that much. How about $_____?"

That's pretty much all you have to do. Basically your post is about something between you and your friend. If that friend is comfortable making you happy for $50, then so be it. If you are happy paying $500 to help out your friend, then so be it. When you look at it like that it doesn't matter what we think.

So, invite your friend to coffee and have a chat about it. You will probably be pleasantly surprised.

No. That's not normal. That's actually stupidly expensive.

It's a nice bike, but not THAT nice. H*ll, you can get a standard sized (S/M/L/XL) Tiemeyer for $1,335 and pick the color you want. $1585 for CUSTOM geometry. That includes a $600 MSRP Edge fork and a $100 King headset. Anybody paying over $1,000 for a used 20 year old frame and fork is nuts.

Squirrelli 11-03-10 01:40 AM

They are paying for the name and the "status".

I'd much rather have the Moto Team Track if I had a budget like that. Then again, I am kind of cheap.

avner 11-03-10 02:14 AM

<3 Vix.

You're probably like me and would sell the frame and put the parts on one of them sexy leader aero tubed frames with no logos.

Squirrelli 11-03-10 02:20 AM

Is that what you're going to do?

avner 11-03-10 02:23 AM

No...Definitely maybe.

I'd like to, The whole durace thing gives me tight underwear but I think i'd enjoy putting it together piece by piece a lot more.

Squirrelli 11-03-10 02:29 AM

I'd keep it as what it is if I were to buy that bike complete, of course, saddle, pedals, stem etc etc are going to be changed to my personal taste.

I do agree that cranks are really nice and it is definitely one of the deciding factors. I like the carbon forks, too.

Why not?

I think it's a good frame set with relatively well spec'd.

vw addict 11-03-10 05:46 AM

I'd be willing to shell out around $200 for that given the chance. $1000? Really? No thanks.

Gyeswho 11-03-10 08:41 AM

When I bought mine a few years back I got the complete original setup for $650. $1000 is a little high
