Cant Sleep...IRO might get here!
I just talked with Tony from IRO. He is sending me a Jamie Roy (say what you want but I love the feel of ally, gotta love something stiff between your legs). He has been killer to deal with, made any modifications that I wanted to with pleasure.
I haven't ridden it yet -obviously- but so far the whole affair has been great. I highly recommend IRO as a company, and from what I hear their bikes are no slouches either.
When it gets here I'll drop and update.

46x17, I've seen your bike on FGG and on the IRO gallery, its quite a looker. I dig the red!
Im trying to pull an all white and silver thing with my Jamie Roy, to contrast my all back geared 'dale. I think ill hang them on the wall next to each other by the door.

I dig my IRO too. I changed a bunch of stuff since the last pic i posted. Im gonna try to take another one today and then start an IRO battle post. The Mark V has to be the best deal going in a new steel fixed gear frame.

I also feel quite honored that Tony put up my bike as the Mark V "model" in his updated gallery.
The only thing I have changed since the picture are the handlebars which inkdwheels sent to me. Thanks again! I'm now sporting MOSCOW TT bars still with bike ribbon red tape plugged with some velox bar ends. I passed on the karma by giving dirtydan the ones in the picture.

Don't get rid of the Brooks saddle. I know you wouldn't but had to say it.
<little side story>
Little naive me went out and bought a new Serfas seat to replace that old skinny leather saddle that was on the bike when my dad handed it down to me.
Now he wont give it back!!!!! It was an original Brooks Swallow too! I feel really stupid. It was a more comfortable saddle, I just thought that if this is how bare leather feels then this squishy stuff should feel like a layzboy. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

There is very little chance that I could ever score it from my dad. Maybe the first time I beat him in a century, but so far he just spanks me like a little wussy boy!

no, he rides a tommasini from the late 70's. All campy super record, sew-ups, and leather bar covers. Its funny, he's not one of those, "I'm all old school" guys, but he is all old school. Still rides with old clips and leather shoes, and if we are out riding and some young guy on a TT bike or some carbon number passes us I wont see my dad till I get home again. He just sorta moves up, grinds the guy down, and blows buy him. Its sorta arrogant but in a humble way, if you know what I mean.

btw, nice people to deal with, they pay attention to you and answer all questions (unless you're asking about derailleurs or knobby tires). i got my IRO there, a mark V.

I am planning to order the Mark V tomorrow. Is there any changes you would recomend I make to the complete that he is offering? I was planning on upgrading to the carbon fork and the free wheel upgrade. Any other suggestions? Maybe order the extra pie?

i admit i been parusing the iro web site for awhile... already got five bikes, maybe i need another? the jamie roy is good looking, but i'm thinkin' 'bout the markv... lotsa potential there. i wonder what overseas sweatshop he gets them frames from, under six bills for a complete bike is unreal. good enough deal to make me forget about all the extra holes in the frame.

don't feel guilty. they get a full bowl of rice for the day, and pass the savings on to you! it's a win-win situation. c'mon, think about it... steel tubes, 390mm stays, free wheel upgrade... and only a little sweat spilled.

Im sure that Tony would tell you where he gets them.
Notes on the Jamie Roy.
First of all I am a snob, I have always ridden really high quality bikes because they were my dads. The Jamie Roy is a great bike, the frame is stiff and fast, it feels like getting on an antsy horse, one that moves while you're mounting the thing and only wants to run. The bike is painted, and its a good paint job, not the best I have ever seen but quite serviceable. If you have the $125 I'd get it powder-coated. The deluxe wheel set is stellar! I didn't get the IRO cranks so I cant speak to that. If you get the Jamie Roy check the box before you do anything, my left rear drop was bent in shipping and I had to bend it back (Don't worry, I was careful and Tony said it shouldn't be a problem). The welds are visible on the frame, they are not trimmed, it would cost a great deal more I think to have them trimmed due to the labor time. I am in the process of trimming the weld on the stem and polishing the brushed into a mirror. Did I say that the wheel set is great? All in all, I really dig this bike, good looks, good quality, great price, great wheels, best customer service. BTW the "crash" warrantee is amazing, crash your bike and get a new frame for half the price.

oh, no. i'm not downin' it. best deal going, hands down. just don't know if i need a sixth bike... can only ride one at a time, you know. the jamie roy would be more appealing if it had 120mm spacing and shorter stays.

I now won't be able to sleep for several days either. My order was just placed for a new Mark V. Yes I am Stoked! This bike won't get here fast enough. Especially when I am sitting in a car on my way to work tomorrow.
