I know some pretty rough dudes from Oakland. I think I'd be okay there.

Besides, it's been proven that I'm bulletproof.

Since we're talking about the east bay, San Leandro, Castro Valley, Hayward, Union City, Newark, Dublin, and Pleasanton are also very nice residential neighborhoods.
East Oakland is just as fine, imo. I understand though, I'd rather live in the cleaner side of Oakland if I could lol. Better roads, less hoes and crackheads. Burrito trucks are missing though. haha.

Alameda has great weather... bike lanes... good schools (as in great) and there have been no murders in the past 2 years !

Totally forgot about the east, and I have a friend who lives in the laurel district and it's really nice there aswell! More hilly parts of town here nonetheless.

This^. I'd look like a joke if I said that for Oakland.

. oakland hills are beautiful. my brother works @ chabot so i go quite a bit. nice view as well, but your ears pop and driving down there after observation night makes the turns sketchy in the dark.

Yes the hills are to die for! I can see the entire southern bay area from my friends house (he even has a window to give you an entire panoramic view); you can see past san mateo and san francisco. But I'm pretty sure the view comes at a cost

oh, forgot to mention, my mom works at skyline high right by the hills.

panoramic view sounds nice, but yeah houses there probably are pricey.

Indeed, I live right near the Laurel district, right off of MacArthur. Alameda is one of my all time favorite places though.

lol i used to live in WEST oakland for 3 years. i survived!
also lived in SF.

lets just say oakland CAN be cool, but can be just as rough, depending where you are. east oakland is like "oh **** what am i doing here"....whats funny is i used to DJ at warehouse raves in the industrial areas of east oakland.

anywho the Lake Merrit area of oakland is really nice.

Berkeley is nice in certain areas.

SF is basically just crazy ****ing expensive. expect to pay ALLOT of rent, and have a very small place, unless you make a butt load of money.

Treasure Island (lived there as well.....island that the Bay Bridge goes thru) is cheaper to live, still technically SF, and has gorgeous views of the bay bridge, the city, the golden gate, alcatraz....buuuuut they make you sign a waiver basically stating that the next big earthquake might result in you falling into the ocean lol)

Lol I personally wouldn't want to live on treasure island... can you drive off of it without the bay bridge? That has always crossed my mind every time I cross the spans to get to work in and out of the city...

I do remember that treasure island is part of SF city because of those city workers who were stationed there and embezzled millions for "working" on nothing and holding large sex parties.

close to a lot of good riding, especially for non-fixed if you also have a geared bike.
