I didn't realize there was a trend happening. I just did it cuz it could be done since it had the same clearance as a Crosscheck. It's the Mercier Kilo WT with 50mm Schwalbe Big Apple tires. It's super duper fun and comfy. I recommend big tires since they are so plush. It is more work, but you'll also be getting stronger (It's fixed but I have two brakes on it to help stop all that rotational weight).I'm all for having loads of space for big tires and switching to smaller if the mood suites you. I really enjoy the bike and it's my 2nd favorite bike after the Surly Crosscheck.

Nano with 406 rims, 20" x 1.95" (50 - 406) tires. These are very used rims off a cheap kid's bike with Kenda Kontact BMX tires.
Q: Can the (pre-production) Nano fit at least 2.0" tires?
A: No. Probably 1.75" max.
Front, enough clearance:
Rear, just rubbing on left, maybe 2mm space on right -- NOT ENOUGH CLEARANCE:
Bike with 406 rims and 1.95" tires -- bitchin':

I like the "mini velo" 20" wheel road bikes a lot. 20" wheels are rough to ride on, but with high quality recumbent tires, there are advantages:
Small wheels can be very light weight, and with the rotating mass closer to the hub, can speed up faster. The small wheel also allows a rider to make use of a gappier cassette or freewheel. A 5 speed freewheel with a massive single chainwheel will probably still be pleasant and efficient.
I think they look like a hell of a criterium bike. I want.
I have seen some people put 20" wheels on standard road bikes, but the BB is very low to the ground, and the bikes had to be modified to move the brake calipers.

Stupid or not is your opinion. The bike is not the same. Its a much lighter frame, with a bigger diamond, and road/recumbent wheels, not BMX wheels. The steering angle looks a lot slacker on this bike too. I don't think these were intended for this stuff. I am surprised they don't break the forks off. I like this bike but with the road bike bars on it.

for 1" threaded 20" suspension forks, try looking up places that sell stuff for folding bikes, and for BMX racing/dirt jumping. They exist! They are popular on recumbent bikes (esp the ones with the 20" wheel under the rider's knees)

sol how fast can you go with it at "cruise" speed compared to your roadbike? i mean if you normally do 20mph, would this one give you 15 or more?
