I have wide feet. GR9s and track pedals don't work for me. I use a comfortable pedal and am cognisant of my turns when riding fixed.
The most comfortable: MKS Sylvan Touring pedals with flip tabs, XL steel toe clips with sewn-on leather, VO leather toe straps Close second: SR SP-11 (Lyotard Berthet copies - huge flip tab) with XL steel toe clips and VO Grand Cru leather straps. These new straps are the bees knees. The SP-11s have a ridge that accepts a slotted cleat, which is nice. http://gallery.me.com/justinhughes/1...12898295270005 |
I'll second the SR SP-11 pedals, have them on two bikes and they are better for my feet than any other pedals I've got. One pair has SR plastic toeclips, and the other has MKS LL-Deep steel clips. The old Maillard road platforms work well also.
I also have Wellgo R025 track pedals with MKS steel clips on two bikes, but they are a bit narrow. Also have a few pairs of Shimano 600/PD-A550 pedals but even the LARGE toe clips are much too small for me. I used to really like the Ritchey Road Logic SPDs, but like to be able to get off and walk, thus clips and straps on all the other bikes. |
Just bought the catalina v1.5 with odyssey pedals - looking forward to trying them out!

MKS Sylvan track (silver), MKS chrome cages, MKS nylon straps. Cheap n' cheerful.

Made the switch from track pedals with clips/straps to a cheap pair of platforms and a set of Burro reinforced straps. They're fun, comfy because they fit sneakers great, and super easy to get into (not that the tracks weren't). If you're putting them on a commuter I'd recommend these or something similar.

I use clipless pedals on both of my bikes.
For the CAAD 10 I use Keo classics and for the Earl I used to use platforms but now I run Eggbeaters. |
