pedals

what is everyone using? I'm using wellgo pedals with metal clips single strap.. thinking about something else more sturdy.. Anyone use hold fast + steve hamiltons for everyday riding?

fixiedavid 12-04-10 06:40 PM

i really like the MKS GR-9s with MKS chrome clips and some leather straps.

but i've been looking to get some bmx pedals and holdfast straps soon

I use demolition BMX pedals and Scrod straps. Get the job done nicely.

NateRod 12-04-10 07:55 PM

I use the all city pro pedals with a clip and single nylon strap on my main ride, but riding Easton BMX pedals with the Catalina's on my 'fun' bike... and REALLY REALLY liking them.

spd-sl, exclusively.

RobotsNPuppets 12-04-10 10:02 PM

Crank Bros Candy SL. I used to run Odyssey PCs with Holdfasts, worked beautifully.

longjohns 12-04-10 10:07 PM

i have a set of spd pedals here...:innocent: one of these days ill buy shoes for them...

avner 12-04-10 10:10 PM

M520 clipless spds. They are cool.
pickin up some double straps and pedals for my next rig and I'm going to see if they work for me.

gses818 12-04-10 10:22 PM

Just took a look at the Catalina v1.5 and they look pretty sweet.. much cheaper than hold fasts too! Definitely gonna consider those for my next pedals. Has anyone used both the Catalina's and hold fasts and can chime in on how they compare? Thanks!

Leukybear 12-04-10 10:29 PM

I have a bunch of combos between my primary bikes
volume cutter => hold fast & demolition platform pedals
pista concept => toshi doubles & mks custom nuevo with all city dual gate cage/ speedplay zero (if clipless)
vigorelli => speedplay zero/ toshi doubles & mks rx1 & all city dual gate cage
paddywagon (commuter) => toshi doubles & mks sylvan track & all city nylon double clips
orca (primary roadie) => speedplay light action

diff 12-04-10 10:41 PM

Using white industries platform pedal + toshi singles + mks steel clips.

The best pedal to ride with normal shoes, just depends if you want to spend the money.

yummygooey 12-04-10 10:46 PM

MKS GR9, MKS steel toe clips, leather straps

tgscordv6 12-04-10 11:18 PM

GR9 + MKS steel clips + Toshi Doubles\

or

Look Keo 2 Max + Sidi Genius 5

because it's flat and has a big tab like some other far less expensive pedals, but stainless is cool

Squirrelli 12-04-10 11:22 PM

I've got some Wellgo WPD-823, been working out really great besides from one user error the other day... :innocent:

I have a set of SPD-R that I kind of want to use, need cleat and special shoes to take the weird vertical two holes.

Lilcphoto 12-05-10 12:41 AM

I was using Origin8 Pro Track Pedals, which I really enjoyed for the double sided use, but since getting catalina's I would prefer something with a bit more grip...

I got some Platform pedals for free from my LBS though that I threw onto the Madison, Looks like Carp but it's a lot easier to slip my foot in and feels more secure... I'll probably end up getting nice platform pedals that don't look so wonky

What other far less expensive pedals? Aside from Mks gr9's, they are pretty much the same deal as the white industries, but much more narrow.

diff 12-05-10 11:30 AM

These pedals look sick. But that ridge is so high. Would either dig hard into your foot, or put your foot at a strange angle. Unless you are wearing slotted cleats, in which case these pedals would be awesome and your foot is going nowhere.

I had ones like these on an old schwinn that felt great... but the clips were plastic and one broke off. When I asked about getting a new one, my co-op said it would be a tough find... This was maybe 4-6 years ago... I'd definitely buy them again new though... I loved those pedals.

Squirrelli 12-05-10 01:51 PM

My co-op is have at least 4 pairs of those type of pedals, all of them are Shimano 600 and I think there's a Miche too.

Anyway, <3 co-ops.
