Anyways, RE: The 0 mph slo-mo fall...

Been there. The knee pain lasts a week or two. The embarrassment lasts a lifetime.

ichitz 12-10-10 10:06 AM

i guess clipless slipping is common here, i'm not as embarrassed now. Had that happen to me once too. Luckily I turned the handlebars and prevented falling over but I also twisted my shoulder in the process..
And this was in the center of hipster town, aka. bedford avenue.

Can you guys stop talking about that stuff, you're gonna get this thread locked.

This happened to me two days in a row, same knee! Ouch At least the second time my G.F. broke my fall haha.
My straps have a clip that "neatly" locks the strap into the pedal for "storage" W.T.F. So if I step on the top of the strap.... needles to say I have to get off and fix it.
http://www.origin-8.com/images/new_400/41654.jpgDont buy these!!

Scrod! When are these gonna be back in stock?
http://www.bikeagestore.com/product/...m-pedal-straps
And will they fit on "Track pedals"?

I wasn't moving, so I just did the slo-mo clipless fall that I always hear about, but it was with straps for me.. Even as I was lying on the ground, It still took me a minute to get the strap loose. A lot of drivers got a good laugh i'm sure.

Gotta work on those track-stands, bro...

We need some sort of "you laugh you loose" thread where everyone posts funny stories about them on their bikes. It could be falls or anything else funny that has happened while on your bike. We have had a few threads kinda similar (like this one, another one i remember reading about things people saw while riding), but it may be cool to get a big thread all in one filled with funny stories. Or maybe im just a bored noob sitting at work and it wouldn't be..haha

On topic: Sucks about your knee man, i feel like its really happened to all of us!

TOTALLY HAPPENED TO ME TODAY~!!

I got to the light, pulled my left foot out, somehow the bike's center of balance was too far to the right, and down I went... Raining cats and dogs, I swear I went straight into a lake. No bumps or bruises except the ride to the pet store with soaking pants...

That happened to me last weekend. I was riding on a street I have never been on before. There was a huge steep climb and directly at the end is the end of the street and heads into a busy street. So basically I had to stop on the hill, pulled my left foot out and lost my balance and fell right. Actually fell into a pile of snow so wasn't too bad.

Only 2nd time I have fallen with straps. 1st time was a few days after getting my toshi singles and thought I had them loose enough to get my foot out, but couldn't. Possibly got stuck, I don't know. But just fell over.

These falls are so weird since you just see the ground getting closer and closer. Then you feel the ground.

I've had power grips.. They were somewhat less awkward than traditional cages.. From my experience, clipless are far more automatic getting in/out of than cages..

fixedgear80 12-10-10 10:44 PM

Hope you tuck in those laces when riding?

Powergrips are ten times better then my old cage and strap combo I was so surprised.

I never fall, never have the crank arm fall off. Guess I'm fortunate that way ?

I had this exact thought. People need to step up the game and turn stories into paints ;)

This is one of the many, many reasons that platform/bmx pedals rule.

Yeah as long as you're not going fast or climbing hills, platforms are fun.
