Pie-jacking

Being that I have neither participated in nor instigated a Pie-jacking (taking over of a thread with the popular, and joyful conversation of Pie) I believe that maybe I can offer, humbly of course, a phrase that applies to such behavior. Well, I already typed it, so there it is.

pie > cake.

bostontrevor 10-12-04 11:05 PM

pie < cobbler.

I have some sitting on the stove right now. My drunk ass is grass if I touch the wife's cobbler before the cock's crow, though.

OneTinSloth 10-12-04 11:07 PM

i don't really think that pie < cobbler. i mean, there are great things about cobbler, but pie has the advantage in versatility. i mean really, have you ever heard of a key lime cobbler?

bostontrevor 10-12-04 11:10 PM

While a damn fine point and one I'd love to debate... whoa dude, I really need to sleep now. It's taken light 30 seconds to write this.

i've had chocolate mousse cake...definitely not as good as a chocolate mousse pie.

meringue cake does not sound good.

So, does anyone participate in recreating and/or watch old Davey and Goliath episodes?

Davey and Goliath kind of disturbed me as a child. I refused to watch it. There was something about Davey that came across borderline ******** or at least somewhat medicated. Funny how little kids pick up on things...

Other things that scared me a bit:
-Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood of Make Believe (I'm convinced Lady Elaine Fairchild is just plain evil)
-The Buger King in the Burger King commercials of the early 1980's (Something about a guy that dresses up as a king to attract little kids to eat his burgers)
-John Carpenter's The Thing (I didn't sleep for weeks)

On a happier note, how about Whoopie Pie? Fruit pies kill cake and cobbler any day in my book. Not a big fan of creams or meringues.

coconut cream pie < cow pie

I really hate coconut. Good kinds of fungi grow in cow pies, and you can use them if you can't find any firewood.

ArtM 10-13-04 08:00 AM

Ummm - Shoo Fly Pie. Only one question, wet bottom or dry?

A3rd.Zero 10-13-04 08:16 AM

ArtM, gotta go with wet bottom, although the dry is better for all kinds of dipping the wet gooey is just perfect. Of course really its most likely which ever one you were raised on. Milk pie anyone? Thats the real poor penna-duch pie. Defiantly a favorite. :)

What about Sheppard's Pie? Or as they say in Quebec...Pate de Chinois...don't ask me why.

eric w 10-13-04 10:54 AM

i grew up on shepherd's pie, we had that for dinner every week during the winter when i was a kid
now i'm a vegetarian...any ideas on if shepherd's pie would taste good with tofu or seitan instead of hamburger meat?

i have a feeling it just won't work

i however, am a drunken dumb*ss
but i'll be a drunken dumb*ss with shepherd's pie
TASTE MY PAIN B*TCH!!!

gilby 10-13-04 12:43 PM

South Fulcrum, you forgot to puncture the top crust of the pie. Just give it a couple stabs with your MS Paint fork. If you do not do so, the pie will explode in the oven.

It works just great. Sautee the tofu or seitan in tamari first for some flavor. I prefer tofu, 'cause when I cut it up in little squares it reminds me of the low-quality chicken in those cheap Banquet pot pies. If you want hamburger texture, you could always try using TVP or those Boca crumbles.
