Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

First bike had a plastic body-kit that made it look like a Ducati. I was ballin' outrageous. Wish I had a picture of it.

Wow, I learned to ride on a hand-me-down girl's bike that was my Mom's, step-through frame, single-speed with coaster brake. The first bike bought for me was a Sears 3-speed. When I got serious about riding, I graduated to a 10-speed Roadmaster Elite from the local hardware store.

Things got better when I bought my first bike for myself, a Sekai 2500 (great bike!).

mine was a 16 inch black bmx bike, didnt say what brand just said bmx with stars!, then around the early 90s my mom bought me a 50s schwinn girls ballon tire cruiser from a thrift store, then around 93 my mom got me a 80s celeste like colored diamond back with white mag-lite wheels from the same thrift store. those were the days when good stuff could be found there!

Ditty.

Next was a slightly larger yellow geared huffy.

Then the Trek 820 (still in service... passed it on to the younger brother a few years back)

Followed by my dad's old Schwinn Sports Tourer 10 speed.

And it all went downhill from there...

I really want a BMX bike because I never had one growing up. I found a 26" cruiser at my LBS I want! To ride normally I'd need a ridiculously long seatpost though:

I remember kids in the neighborhood had "sweet" 20" bikes with gyros (probably from Walmart, actually). I don't know what I'd do with a 20" BMX but a cruiser could make a nice...well, cruiser.
