No, fortunately i did not. It was a fairly shallow slope on the leeward side of the hill. Very awkward stop though. I had 5 skid pads on the tire and was able to seize the wheel a few times times, but eventually fish tailed on the last skid and then hit the front brake as a last ditch effort.

The driver ignored the bike lane and was looking to squeeze past a line of cars get into the right turn lane, but didn't make it.

Cool video, he's pretty awesome for being able to do that, but I think roadies be laughing. I certainly would as I spun in a comfortable gear past him.

Roadies don't like to have fun on bikes. They only like to spin efficiently.

That's why I don't consider myself one, despite my unsightly spandex and riding on roads.

another epic fixed gear ride documented on film.

No, I don't get it.

Scrodzilla 12-26-10 01:54 PM

I don't get it either. Where I live has a huge roadie population and none of them actually enjoy riding their bikes.

dsh 12-26-10 02:23 PM

Well at least they actually ride their bikes, unlike all of us here.

Scrodzilla 12-26-10 02:25 PM

Oh yeah. True.

Anywho, i thought it was a pretty neat video. A little boring yes, but i'm not hating myself for spending the time to watch it. Thanks for sharing.

I should elaborate: I did get it, I just thought it wasn't funny.

Like the vid lots, hairnet! Thanks for bringing it over. Hope I can recall the feeling on tonight's sprints.

Thanks for a most brilliant signature, cc! It's a prototype of a black carbon concept not in production yet. :)

FlatSix911 12-27-10 09:45 PM

A complete FAIL ... :notamused:

M_S 12-27-10 10:10 PM

What an annoying video.

Probably you surveyed them all, huh?

PedallingATX 12-28-10 12:32 PM

Props to that guy. Quite a feat...doubt I could do it.

@Scrod--I don't think you can say that about roadies. True, some of them are just in it for the competition or the fitness and don't actually enjoy it, but plenty do. I myself love riding bikes and am what some might consider a roadie.

There are also those times where I'm trying to suppress insecurity/self-doubt/depression by sprinting up hills until I'm so out of breath that I feel like I'm drowning, but those are becoming increasingly rare.

But w/e, I can only speak for myself. I'll always love laying down mile after mile at 21+ mph on a bike designed to maximize efficiency and extend the reach of what's possible for me to do with my body.

danvuquoc 12-28-10 01:18 PM

Do all fixie riders think roadies don't enjoy riding their bicycles? What line of logic lead you to believe that?

Hartigan 12-28-10 08:16 PM

THIS IS BOOOORING...i am switching to porn.

That's a great example of the English language.

I work in a shop that services their bikes and caters to their silly whims (and tantrums) on a daily basis. It seems to be all about bull**** "competition" to them and pretending to be some kind of athlete.

BTW - I was being mildly sarcastic and perhaps it seems I was generalizing a bit too much. I wasn't speaking of all roadies everywhere. If you read my post again, you'll see that I was only speaking of the weekend warriors around here - middle-aged chubby dudes on full carbon bikes that look down their noses on anyone who isn't decked out in a $500 leotard.

This is where you walk around their training grounds (MUP) and yell "IM FASTER THAN YOU"

observe reactions and take note

Scrodzilla 12-28-10 09:36 PM

Wait...are you joking?
