reload flight pack

Does anyone have one of these yet?

I guess my question could apply to all backpacks.

For the past 4 months have been using a pac designs ultimate. Really like it, very comfortable on the bike, design of the bag is top notch and has all kinds of cool pockets and places to put things. My only complaints with the bag was that really large loads are very cumbersome, walking with the bag wasn't so good. Also have been getting some neck pains lately.

Ever since I saw the reload flight pack in the reload blog, wanted to try one. Especially when I had a huge load in my shoulder bag, trying to raise it above my head, would think how nice a normal backpack would be right about now. Finally broke down about a month ago and ordered a large custom flight pack.

It came last week and have been riding with it for a few days now. The bag is extremely comfortable standing or walking, but when on my bike it feels really strange. Like it's constricting my movements, or pulling against me in a weird way.

Anyone here went from a shoulder bag to a double strap and experienced this? Maybe I just need to get used to it since have been riding with a shoulder bag for a bit? Or maybe the bag and my body just don't match up?

It's a shame since this bag is really nice otherwise.

Let me know what guys think. Thanks.

I thoroughly dislike single strap bags. I had a single strap for three years that i bought for some god awful price and ended up selling it for a quarter that just to get rid of it. I settled for a generic nylon covered rucksack and it took a lot of the oddity of a single strap away. Granted I'm not be able to swing it around front when i need something, but i haven't missed that yet.

Perhaps your pack straps are too tight or the pack is leaning to a side. I had a period where it felt like the double strap was constricting a little bit of my movements, and all i did was release the straps a tad so it sat lower on my back.

Is the bag stabbing into your back at all from odd shaped items? If that's the case, you may want to slide something in the back of the bag so it distributes pressure evenly, or invest in a backpack cushion.

No, not stuff poking me. Just when you lean over on the bike it feels constrictive. Hard to explain, but I'm sure you guys knows what I mean. Just compared to a single strap shoulder bag at least.

I tried loosening the chest strap a bit, and seemed to help a bit. I think I just have to get used to it is all. Will give it a few weeks and see.

Pretty impressed with the quality of the bag though. Every little detail seems thought out. And the construction is top notch. Supposed to be waterproof, but haven't tested yet. Do like the outside side pockets a lot. Nice to just be able to grab my lock or whatever I have in there. And liking the roll top too.

Anyone have any of the other reload double straps? Midpack, minipack, or softpack? Would be cool to hear how they stood up over time.

Think I just had to get used to it or something. Or maybe it broke in a bit. The bag is quite comfortable now. Especially with heavy loads like coming back from the store, or loading up 2-3 days worth of clothes/stuff.

Really happy to not have to use a shoulder bag anymore. Even though pac designs is probably the best there is. Saw it on ebay for cheap and was an impulse bid. Actually lost the bid and then got an email a few days later saying I could have the bag for the last price I bid, so bought it.

The outside pocket on the flight pack is genius. You can shove so much crap in there.

Pretty happy with my purchase, if anyone is looking for a new backpack, check one out. They aren't too expensive and you get a lot for the price.
