Chrome Mini Metro
 

Anyone have one? Im in the market for a new bag, after my Pedro's bag self destructed on me. I was looking on City Grounds and they have the mini metro for $96, which is the cheapest I've seen them. Any one have a review they would like to share?

Thanks for the offer, but im looking for something with a little more room. I know the chrome is 20L, which isn't a huge difference between the two, but i need the extra room for my school stuff.

They got mini metro for $99 and citizen model for $109 at chrome. The only thing is that they only come in two colors. Yellow and camo. I think they still have the free shipping and free gloves thing going on too.

I bought a Metropolis 6 years ago, and gave it away when I got my mini-metro two years ago. I think I paid something like $130, so you're getting a good deal. It's definitely quite large, I can fit my 13" MBP, several textbooks/notebooks, calculator, lock, and some drinks in their with no problem (I've been known to fill it with ice and beer on occasion). For day-to-day, non-messengering use, the mini-metro is definitely the most reasonably sized, and of course it's incredibly high quality. My metropolis is still going strong for my friend. My only precaution would be that you shouldn't buy a bag like this unless you'll be on the bike with it a lot. They're not as comfortable when you're walking with heavy stuff inside. I have a backpack for when I'm not going to be biking and have a ton of **** to carry.

I don't have a Mini Metro, but I have a Citizen. For me, the Citizen is the right size. On a typical day, I'll have a lock, a 13" MBP, a fat textbook or two, a few folders + notebooks, and little things like pens and a calculator. If I'm carrying two textbooks, the bag is stretched filled pretty comfortably. When I compared my Citizen to my sister's Mini Metro, I could tell just by looking at it that the Mini Metro was way too small for what I carry on a daily basis. I also think it's nice to have the extra capacity to carry awkward packages like boxes or baking pans or something. Like hamish5178 said, the bag is not comfortable for long distances coupled with heavy loads while walking, but I find it very comfortable when I'm riding.

I also have a citizen, and the bag is well made, obviously. I sometimes have to carry some odd ball items (tennis racquet and a tube of tennis balls), and I have a pretty hard time making things comfortable with the racquet in the bag. Other than that, everything fits comfortably. I will agree with yummy, though, when I am carrying a lot of books/notebooks, the bag can get pretty uncomfortable off the bike.

I dont think Im going to have to carry too too much, so I think it will work fine for me. Im also going to buy the Chrome zippered pouch for some basic tool to toss in the bag as well. Thanks for the input guys, Really helped!

don't forget to buy a cell holster too! best thing i ever bough for my chrome bag. i got a backpack one though. i find it way more comfortable than my metropolis.

Mini-metro for $96 is a great deal. I bought mine for $120 (regular price) mainly for the waterproofness and the ease of taking it on/off with the buckle.

I use it mainly for going to work/class and have a regular two-strap backpack for carrying more stuff when traveling/walking more. The straps make it easy to fit bigger or oddly shaped things into the bag too, when you need it.

I disagree with the cell holster comment above, but that's also because my phone is always in my pocket.

I've got a mini-Metro that I've been using for the past three years... and really like it. Just the right size for most of the stuff I have to pack around, and pretty comfortable on the bike or on foot either one. Like others, I bought a Metropolis first, but that turned out to be a little bit big... Still have it for odd loads, but the daily bag is almost always the mini-Met.

As for colors, Chrome makes these things in odd batches. Keep checking the site, and eventually they'll come up with a color you like ;-) My Metropolis, for example, came out of a batch they did in blaze orange; the Mini-Metro is hi-vis chartreuse.

I forgot:

My only metropolis was old, it still had the standard D-ring on the buckle, as opposed to the flat thing they have now (the D-ring had a tendency to slip through the buckle and go underneath the strap). . .

Anyway, it had a stash pocket, which my newer mini-metro doesn't. Does Chrome no longer include a stash pocket? I can't find anything about it on their site.

Also, I figured this one out myself while writing the post. . . Chrome bags no longer have an extra set of buckles near the bottom of the straps. These extra buckles allowed you to attach cylindrical objects to your bag (like bedrolls, umbrellas, or packages) if you try to put these things in underneath the buckles when they're attacked to the top-flap, the straps can't form a circle, one side will be flat, so holding something round is much more difficult.

This is all totally irrelevant, but I think it's real ****ty of chrome to get rid of those two features. . .

I'm pretty sure the stash pocket is only on the Metropolis because it's the biggest of the three "main" sizes. I remember reading something about it when I was looking for reviews about the Chrome bags in general. I dunno about the Kremlin (the biggest size, which is no longer offered on the main Chrome site).

Go pay $10 or $20 more and get a nice custom handmade bag where you can pick out how it looks.

I'm not sure there was any room in there, between condoms and herb, that thing was usually pretty full ;)

Stash pocket: was/is a small pocket on the rear of the bag along a seam held closed with velcro. Pretty much impossible to find unless you knew it was there.

I got the Mini Metro for Christmas! I love it and it's super high quality. Still haven't found the stash pocket though....
