And pedal overlap usually isn't even a problem if you have basic bike handling skills.

I dunno, maybe my body proportions are odd. I simply ordered a Leader 725 frame based on top tube length (I typically fit a frame with a 52 or 53cm top tube therefore I ordered an XS--48.5 which has a 53cm top tube), and I'm pretty comfortable on it. My Vigorelli has a 52cm top tube so I put a stem 10mm shorter on the Leader and I'm happy with it. Granted I do use one more 10mm spacer under the stem, on my Leader, than my Vigorelli.

There's actually a small amount of toe overlap on my XXS (46cm) Cretin with a 30mm front tire, but it's no worse than my 49cm Soma Rush, which has 10mm more fork rake but a 10mm shorter TT. It's really a matter of degree; the overlap on my Schwinn Paramount P14 is massive to the point that even riding away from the rail at the start of races on the velodome I have to be careful not to catch my front tire.

Okay, I realize I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but I don't understand this collaboration. I mean, I get other collaborations, i.e. Cinelli x Chrome. But this...what's the point? Maybe I'm just old, but I think listening to headphones while riding a bike is one of the most dangerous things one can do. Not to mention, in SF at least, it's illegal to have both earbuds, or whatever, on/in at the same time, while riding a bike OR driving a car. Then again, its enforced as much as jaywalking.

If this is what it has come to, when are we going to start seeing Chevy and Budweiser collaborations? Ok, well, I guess we do have NASCAR, so NEVERMIND. Thanks.

People who wear buds in SF will get hit eventually -- i dont understand how people ride with them at all, there is so much stuff happening all the time that could really really mess you up if you arent paying attention.

Buds are bad, mmmmmmmkay

No kidding. I don't know how many times I've almost been hit, or cut off, by another cyclist, wearing earbuds, who wasn't paying attention.

I consider myself to be pretty sharp and I'm right there with you.

Every time it comes up, I'm just going to keep posting gifs showing people shaking their heads:

Time to underail this thread. Yesterday I got the TwoFish QuickCage water bottle cage for the Cretin, so now it's complete. Now, I can put some serious mileage on it w/o dehydration.

What are your thoughts on the Charge scoop? Do you ride in street clothes or bike shorts?

I'm thinking about replacing my Toupe.

At first I thought it wasn't that comfortable, but after breaking it in and finding the right saddle position/angle, it is actually awesome!

Bump. Nothing new, just keeping this thread on page 1.

Somebody did ask with interest in the "Ask Scrod" thread about my experience with getting my 725 warrantied. It was smooth; I got it switched out for a 721 and I am digging it thus far.

Good to hear!

You actually ended up with a better frame, as the 721 is made from 7000-series aluminum, is lighter and doesn't have a faulty integrated seatpost clamp.

Chappys4life 04-01-15 08:36 AM

Being the leader discussion I have a question. Looking at Leader frames for a possible build and whats the difference between the 721 and Cretin

Totally different tubing, but very similar geometry. The Cretin tubing is much rounder and less aero than the 721. I have both frames, and they have very similar handling and ride qualities. The 721 may be a bit lighter than the Cretin.
