Fix in Hawaii

So between the one messenger service here, the guy rancid on this forum i put a bike together for, the guy i chased down last week riding the miyata, and some other randomeness there arent alot of fixed gear riders here.

2 weeks ago i put together this flyer and got together with this guy chris who runs a ss mtb team called Aloha Single Speeders and tomorrow is Hawaii's first fixed gear shindig. Im just hoping everything turns out ok, i've never organized anything and the only group ride i've done is our small critical mass. Im hoping that about 10-15 will show.

So, wish me luck, and look for pictures on sunday!

Well everything went down super smooth yesterday. A total of 10 people were there. The best thing is everyone except an older guy and a girl that we met up with later was wearing an Aloha Single Speeders shirt. A guy named Ryan that works in the bike shop here won the trackstand competition and yours truly won the skid competition. For being the first event here of its kind it totally rocked!! I can't wait get something else together.

Here is a pic of us all at a corner in waikiki. Rancid from this board is the guy with the yellow bar tape

Here is a picture from the trackstand contest and one from the skid comp.
All together there were 2 steamrollers, 2 langsters, 1 indy fab ss mtb bike, an old fuji, a super old colnago, a country road bob, Rancids cannondale, and my Iro.
I expected more ss'ers to show up but out of all of us there was only 1.

Ryan is trackstanding and im the one skidding

Serious style points on the one legged no hands trackstand. Is that reflective tape on your bars?

That's a good idea. I love the magic 3M tape. I buy way too much of it. You guys look like you're all warm. I'm not looking forward to the winter.

What was the winning time on the trackstand and did you have to go to no hands one legged to get there or was that for bonus points?

i think the winning time was 2min 59sec. There was 1min w/ 2 hands. Then either 1 or 1.5 min w/ 1 hand. Then no hands. Thats when i ate it.

so much fun, such a good weekend....
INKD didn't mention that in winning the skid comp, he actually kept his skid going over a speed bump-it was classy
