Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I prefer using platforms on all of my fixed-gears and single-speed setups. I have used SPD's, but
would rather not. Platforms give me lots of foot positioning.

This topic sure is back from the dead. Ok, I like to play with dead things, too.

Last year I noticed about 3 other fixes around campus, someone had a nice gunnar I parked next to everyday. This week alone I've counted at least 10 different fixes, 2 of which were driven by beautiful womens, and one shiny new Jamie Roy Iro. I am off the schwinn le tour and on a Centurion Dave Scoot Ironman with Stonglight cranks and eggbeaters. The elbow scars are still noticeable and the gash in my side doesn't look any different then the day it was made.

If any of your Corvallis peeps are reading this, it would sure be a blast to go for a ride sometime.

Bikes: Lots. Mostly steel. Mostly heavy. Mostly geared, and very low, at that.

also nice are the Syncros Mental Pedals. I'd totally buy some if they weren't twice as much as the Time Aliums I normally ride.
