Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Help with a SS speed conversion.

So i received a nice mountain bike. With a nice groupo and shock setup. Problem is i got it because it was in a car accident. The rear rim is taco'ed derailer is bent and hanger is toast.

I can get a new hanger, i can get a surly derailer set.

I can get a new rear rim.

now my question is what levers do i need for the disbrakes?

Also what good slicks are there that are 700x40-60

I had some slicks in 700-50 but i sold them so out of luck. Also, what is a good rear rim with disc brakes.

I already got new crank arms on the way. and waiting for a new shock assembly.

When i turn the damping to full stiff. nothing happens.

Im pretty sure the shocks are blown, but i havent checked the valves yet. so idk.

ah fair enough, if it has vertical dropouts you would do better to get an eno hub (if you can afford to of course) as it will be more durable and also look cleaner

the durability is important in your situation as being a mountain bike, i presume you'll be using it off road on occasion

just my 2c

Its a chain tenstioner. Like a derailer, You just move the arm and tighten a pinch bolt.
