It's Cold..
Anyone ever zipped on like 72 3/16" Zip ties around your tires for ice riding? i tried it last night.. it works well!

Yeah the zip tie idea was tearing up the blogosphere a couple months ago. I still think it's a bad idea.

I can't see how it would work on ice; crusty snow maybe, but only studs would work on ice I think.

I spent like an hour on doing that.. using cheap ties, they ALL broke off after like 100 yards or so, oops...
better ties worked when i can't afford steel spiked tires, but the 4 day a decade in Texas it ices over, It's not worth the $80 or $100 for good ice tires...

there are a lot of DIY articles on how to make your own studded tires or tire chains. I made a snow bike with a studded tire that I made. It worked great but I was using a 24" knobby tire to start with which helped.
