habits?

what are everyones habits while riding (good and/or bad)... me... i sometimes find myself with my music way to loud and am completely oblivious to the world, sometimes i get lazy and don't use hand signals.. anyone else?

I find myself getting tired and pointing my toes towards the ground, esp on long flats with headwind. I'm sure this is a terrible habit and I'm trying to strengthen my calves to avoid this.

Oh, and carrying too much stuff with me. Waste not want not

I tend to run red lights at 3 way intersections and sometimes 4 way when there's no cars in the opposing directions...

dsh 02-03-11 09:26 PM

pointing your toes is pro

PluperfectArson 02-03-11 10:26 PM

I run red lights and stop signs all the time.

evilcryalotmore 02-03-11 10:33 PM

One bad habit i have is not stoping for stop signs, Also i don't ever tell drivers im breaking.

A nother bad habit i have is screaming on rides.

PluperfectArson 02-03-11 10:36 PM

My biggest problem with hand signals is most drivers do not know wtf they mean.

I will signal switching lanes, but that is about it.

c0urt 02-03-11 10:38 PM

I dance at stop lights.

In the area I live; I just gave up on using hand signals.....

twobadfish 02-03-11 10:41 PM

I sometimes stop pedaling.

dsh 02-03-11 10:41 PM

Pointing in the direction I intend to go is pretty unambiguous.

Paultso 02-03-11 10:44 PM

seat post is always too high, i don't run a brake, i don't use grip tape, i run tubulars in nyc, i ride in the middle of lanes

evilcryalotmore 02-03-11 10:45 PM

+1 with people not knowing wtf point left means.

I hate it when people horn at me for waiting at the red light.

So, what do you think is the bad habit, listening to music way too loud listening to music?

The bad habit is listening to music.

I consider being able to hear essential to being safe when riding on the street. It is important to be able to hear cars, riders, and other things approaching you from behind...especially "other things" hahaha.

jdgesus 02-03-11 10:56 PM

i bite my nails

twobadfish 02-03-11 10:57 PM

I like it to be a total surprise if I'm going to get creamed by a car. And the only way I can do that is to turn up my headphones ALL THE WAY. Extreme max volume.

krapes 02-03-11 11:02 PM

I tend to get to 'into' maneuvering traffic. If I'm riding while there is a lot of traffic, I get really excited about passing a lot of cars and I start doing risky maneuvers in order to keep my flow going. I am car-free you see, and being able to pass cars moving slowly in traffic jams seems like a reward for my chosen lifestyle.

I see what you did there.

Hahah the listening to music is definitely the bad habit here no question about that.

achtron 02-03-11 11:34 PM

I also forget that people can hear me when i go and insult them

PluperfectArson 02-04-11 12:20 AM

I have never liked listening to music while riding my bike in the streets.

I could understand if you were alone at a track, maybe on a MUP, but doing it on the streets is kind of dumb.

I do this too, and i thought I was the only one...

cc700 02-04-11 12:59 AM

i say **** a lot.

it starts with c and rhymes with bunt. often it's combined with f-bombs or 'stupid' or other qualifiers.

someone cuts me off, i yell "****!"

someone turns without signalling, i yell "****!"

someone passes me with a little too much throttle or a little too little space, i yell "****!"

often i look over my shoulder and there's a nice lady riding her comfort bike behind me... oops.
