Need New Cranks - SE Draft

If you've ever seen them, they are less than awesome...

I pretty much buy everything from Nashbar if possible but their selection is thin and consists of a Vuelta crank only, I'm not counting the $200 Sram Force set.

Are they worth it? they're about $50 and seem good enough. I was just hoping to compare them to at least one other set.

Could someone post a link to a decent crank in the $100 neighborhood?

Someone posted in the deals threat icycles had the Campy Record cranks for $40 w/ purchase of two additional items. Could buy the BB & chainring for the 2 items and the total will probably run close to $100 when you're done.

I have a set of FSA Vero cranks. Not high end by any means but IMO the quality is pretty nice and the new ones look cool. You can get them w/ the chainring for about $60.

Sugino XD are good budget choice too.

You guys must ride Surly bikes, they match your online personality.

I love my 2009 Draft...

If you don't have an suggestion or a link why bother responding? Your post counts are high enough to be considered cool.

I just wanted your approval. And I asked if there was a reason you needed new cranks, which you failed to respond. If the answer is "just cause" then save your money which was Adriano's suggestion. Loosen up the panties and stop being so defensive.

I have 3 sets of Andels and like them a lot. Cranks are $105 with free shipping from benscycle and BB is $20.

I didn't say anything about your bike, only your panties (and how defensive wearing them so tight seems to make you).

If you and Scrod are done jerking each other off maybe you could answer a few questions. What's your budget? What exactly are you looking for? Do you need a complete crankset with chain ring or just the cranks and plan to use the stock ring that came on bike?

Go wash your hands and come back when you won't leave your keyboard all sticky!

Sugino 75's or omniums; SO WHAT if they're going on a draft.

...that's more like it.

1. Complete Crankset

2. BB as well (?) I don't think the '09 Draft uses a standard Shimano BB that fits a Vuelta crankset. I couldn't even tell you if Shimano and Vuelata are compatible

The BB is the main problem on this low-end bike.

The specs from the SE website are:

SE Draft 2009 Fixed Gear Drivetrain
Crankset: 3-pc Euro Steel, 42T

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Budget $100 would be nice ....willing to go higher.

If you want all that for under 100$ you need to find the cheapest stuff you can buy and buy that. As in, an eighthinch crankset for 50$ (and you might be able to find a BB for under 40$.) Ok, I found a couple bottom brackets under 30$ with decent reviews. But still, with shipping thats at least 80$. You need to keep the crankset you have until it breaks. Its just not even a big upgrade if you spend 100$ on a new crankset and BB. However, this is just looking at the numbers so if you just have to have a new crank and bottom bracket then go for it.

But I told you so.

https://www.nashbar.com/bikes//Product_10053_10052_175234_-1___

https://www.nashbar.com/bikes//Produc...2_194724_-1___ (Shimano UN-54 BB)

I dont know if either of those will fit your bike.

If you're looking to spend a hundred bucks, go with an Eighth Inch set and a 107mm Shimano UN-54 BB.

Cool, thank you.

Peace Scrodzilla.

...please keep any suggestions coming. The BB threw me for a loop.

I know it's a cheap bike but I love it, I did upgrade the wheels ....and sell the Jamis. I ran out of room for two bikes and you don't have to "baby" a Draft.

I would buy this.
https://cgi.ebay.com/SRAM-S300-CRANKS...item5d2d13acbd

And spend some money on a good chainring.

That's a good option too. I always forget that the road version comes in silver.

I don't know if it'll have same chainline as the couriers one.

Well, if the OP decides to go this route, this is a mega cheap chainring.

I don't think they do have the same chainline unless the ring on on the inside. Even then it may still be off a wee bit.

Anyone seen/tried the new FSA Veros (silver, beefier looking) in person? I've got an older black pair that seem pretty cheap and crappy and was wondering if the new ones look like they are better made?
