Panasonics are heavy?
I've got a panasonic built up with good parts. All dura ace/phil wood/nitto. Open pros to formula. Still, my bike is heavier than most of my friends', significantly. A friend of mine rides a panasonic and her's is heavy as well. why? maybe cos they're the panasonic order system frames?

get stronger like keirin racer
honestly i dont know about these frames, Im assuming you are talking about the current panasonics. I can only imagine its either because they are ment to hold op to a crash and stuff and lighter tubes wont do that as well. Carlton you want to chime in on the standardized nature of keirin?

Mine doesn't feel very heavy and its a 62cm. Its not the lightest bike but its definitely not heavy. The pos doesnt use the highest quality/lightest tubing options for obvious reasons. There are 8 or so tubing options depending on which studio you goto and the tubing + size will dictate the weight along which part choices.

None of your parts stand out as being super light. Maybe your friends bikes have different parts. Did you actually put them on a scale or are you just guessing? Without specifics it's impossible to say why your bike is heavier..

Its basically like any other studio's options. Base price is around 1,500usd. all tubing options, chrome, any angles you want, paint you want, seat stay style etc.. aka full custom.

My old Paramount P14 steel lugged track bike weighs only 16.8 lbs, and the frame and fork are not particularly light. The weight savings is in the box section tubular wheels and lightweight track racing tubular tires. The frame represents at most 1/3 of the total bike weight.

Are you using a scale to compare your bike to others or just picking them up by hand? If the difference is huge and you ordered the frame with an expected and promised weight as advertised and you got something else then that is an issue. You might have gotten a different kind of tubing than what you paid for, heavier tubing being cheaper.

You've spent a good deal of money on a very nice bike, don't ruin the experience by worrying over a pound or two. You can buy lighter parts and lose the weight but it won't make you faster, just poorer.
You didn't buy the bike to win some weight weenie contest so stop picking up your friends' bikes and just ride.

model/year might help... Kind of like saying I bought a Chevy and it is heavy even tho I put new tires on it.
