Diy chain whip?

Any one make one? To buy a chain wip at the LBS i can just pay them to change my whole cassette and install the conversion.

Nope, those won't work. You can't rotafix a cassette off, because you need to be holding it with the lockring tool at the same time (so the wheel can't be secured in the frame.)

I don't have a chainwhip yet so when I remove a cassette I use an old chain and vise grips. It's not the best but it works.

1" x 1/8" steel - any decent hardware store (or home improvement store) should have some.

Bikes: tirove

be sure you get hardened steel.

it's more important than getting hardened wood.

Guys, I'm all about DIY. But it sort of doesn't make sense to make a DIY chainwhip when a Park chainwhip is $20. Off-brand whips are less than that.

It makes sense if you already have the materials laying around, along with a drill press and cut-off saw. These took less time to make than the trip to a LBS. I agree though, it's not worth going out of your way to make one.
