Stoppie Question
Ok, this one may get me nominated for some sort of batty.... but here goes
Any of you front brake runners capable of doing a stoppie (a front wheel skid, with the back wheel elevated)? I thought that I came ridiculously close in a hairy spot today, on some wet pavement, but i rocked back down and skidded the back wheel. I really think trying it would just be begging for an endo, but maybe with a disc brake?
Now that i think about it, there's no way you could do it with a dual pivot brake, it would have to be disc. Wouldn't it?

I've skidded the front once, but by the numbers you need to have some sort of slippery surface (gravel, oil, whatever). It's theoretically impossible to skid the front on dry pavement.
I do, however, regularly do a hard stop and elevate the rear and ride it out for a while.

the front wheel shouldnt lock up to do a stoppie, it continues to roll while the front brake is applied, while the rear is off the ground. its pretty much just a rolling endo.
skidding the front wheel is bad news, but if your skills are up to par (from SS MTBing) you should be able to recover.

I've never stoppied my fixie ( 'cause the brake is absolute ass and unable to generate the required rim-squeeze), but I stoppie my mountain bike with V-brakes and my touring road bike with cantilever brakes all the time. There's nothing like pulling up to a red light on your front wheel, and then setting your rear wheel down into a track stand.
