Rims that deep are often tubulars and most tubular tires have a removable core to put a valve extender on them.

Speaking of valve extenders, tubes that are compatible with them can be quickly deflated by unscrewing the presta valve. I learned this randomly after using a tube for my sram s80's and forgot to tighten the presta valve, only to have the tube deflate after removing the pump nozzle. If you guys are wondering, wheels that need a valve extender usually come with them when you buy them new.

You aren't supposed to tighten the valve before you put the extender on. It must remain open to allow air to come in when pumping.

You misread, I was not using it with an extender. I should've also mentioned presta valve core.... just found the right word; and probably that I was using those kinds of tubes instead of normal tubes with the supplied extender from sram.

Oh! Sorry. Yeah, if you remove those valve cores the air comes out immediately. You can get valve core extensions as well instead of valve extenders that go on top of the valve.

Well if you didn't mind the bit of yellowish mold on them... anyways I got ~30 of them... shipping bittered the deal nonetheless...
