Wondering if any of you guys attend/live near Rowan University. I'm trying to set up a charity alleycat on campus, and would appreciate some help, as I've never done this before. Also, let's meet up and ride!

Not sure what the charity is you want to serve, but one way to get "free" volunteers is to have the riders buy certain food stuffs for a local food bank at certain stores. The register receipts can serve as proof of going to that "check point." (They did that for a Cranksgiving even last November here.)

1. get the local Fixie LBS involved.
we usually go to ours cuz he knows all sponsors and which ones to email, especially ones they're dealers to will often ship free swag
(chrome, knog are very responsive to sponsoring alleycats, just promise to have someone shoot some good shots and email back to them after the event)
2. blast all fixedgear blogs and forum in their "contact us" email with an image of the finished flyer after you slap all the sponsors on there.
(start with ones closest to you and work your way out)
*1.9. yea make a bad ass flyer.
sometimes fixedgear blogs post alleycat flyers just because the art is badass, not because they intentionally want to help promote the events and there's your free plug.
**urbanvelo (magazine) will always want to be a sponsor LOL so there goes your first free sponsor logo (but they do only ship you their magazines, still free, but no body reads those LOL)
