Los Angeles?

What's up with all the fixies outside the bar in Echo Park?... I saw them this evening but I was on a bike with gears and a freewheel so I didn't feel cool enough to stop by.

Was there a silver one w/ full fenders, drop bars, no bar tape? And a blue one w/ moustache bars, brooks saddle?

Yeah we've got messengers here, pretty much just in downtown. Law offices use them to deliver original documents that need sigs or notories. Drive or ride by 4th and Flower, that's were they hangout waiting for dispatches.

I just had jury duty downtown for the last 2 weeks and rode my bike every day. It's the first time I saw a bunch of other track bikes since I moved here. Now I love jury duty.

I read the first two pages of that book and once again this is a complete misrepresentation of what messengering really is. Its almost as bad as Quicksilver.

noone said it was realistic - just a fun read...its rare that bicylces get weaved into fiction.

Anywho...anyone see the article on the bicycle kitchen in the LA times last week - I was visiting my mom and pops in LA for pie day and there was a huge article in the Calendar section on Friday. Sounds like a cool place. I would imagine it is very fixie/ss culture (although the article never mentioned it) Anyone know anything about it?

The book does not claim to represent messenger culture! It was using a messenger becuase the character was right for the part, hard life made harder by occupation, as well as an oppourtunity for some cheap thrills.

Same as Quicksilver, it never claimed it was about messengers either, once again the character of the messegner was right for the part. Guy goes from the top of the world and falls to the bottom, down to a job as a messenger and is humbled and driven by his bike rather then the stock market.

Now if your talking about pie, well...now there are you have all kinds of hidden messanges.

Not anymore, one of them got into a fight and they're banned from there. Little Joy down the street is the place now.

Yup. The new spot, Little Joy, is just one short block down.
We all met there after the Cranksgiving ride last week.

I know who that person was. But before that some other guy was accused of stealing the tips from the bar. So yeah, we ended up going to Little Joy. Go to the shortstop NOT LOOKING like a messenger.
Bleh. Anyone participate in that Ride for Chico Che?

Meant to, but had to work late that nite. Was bummed out that I missed it too. I gotta stop by the Kitchen to drop off some donations I collected from friends for the Chico.

Vomitron and I did. It was sweet. We were going to race and just decided to ride to Chico's house and give him some encouragement...and then drink.

I was over at the Kitchen tonite.

My ride is the chrome Pista. Doesn't that blue GT funny bike belong to someone on here? Looks really familiar.
