For $40, buy a used saddle on eBay that you think looks cool. There really is no way for us to tell you what kind of saddle your butt likes. When I was trying to find a saddle for my butt, I bought multiple $150+ retail saddles for less than $40 a pop. I either gave the other ones away or resold them for the same price I bought them for. For me, I couldn't care less if the saddle has been sat on by someone else's butt as long as its in decent condition. Heck, one time I even bought a "used" saddle that came to me looking like it had never been sat on.
That, or a saddle demo program. But all the saddles you'll try in one of these programs is probably going to cost significantly more than $40.

No, I'm sure the ride quality is the same. it's sort of like Coke from a glass bottle compared to plastic... plus when you buy a vintage one (non-NOS at least) it has that great worn look to it, like an old pair of jeans

My two favorite saddles are the SDG Bel-Air and Charge Spoon.
White/Grey for $22 is the only sub $40 Bel-Air I can find ATM
https://www.jensonusa.com/store/produ...0.aspx?sc=FRGL
Charge Spoon for $21.

Thing is if you buy before trying you might have to go through 5-10 saddles before you find the one you like.

i just ordered about a week ago a Selle Italian SMP TRK saddle, i'll put up a review when i've given it a good week of work, but for 75AUD i hope it feels good with its doodle-gap
that's right, i'm coining a new term, doodle-gap

i'm sure you can figure out the doodle-gap as my text didn't go in

I meant that^ but I had a grammer fail right there, read the sentence more carefully and you'll understand it hopefully..... must've been running low on caffeine back there. XD
I meant they are not that bad; ride quality rise that is....
