if you're dealing with him in person, he's great. really friendly, really nice, super into bikes and willing to let you talk his ear off, and he'll talk your's off too! haven't dealt with the online portion of the store, but from what i've heard, it's not so great, service-wise.

he was all excited to get me an entire gold-plated NJS group from japan (nitto bars and stem, chain, chainrings, cranks, saddle and seatpost). but i didn't have the money, so i told him not to bother. and really, who needs all that flashy stuff on a bike that's gonna get ridden daily?

can't say much for his buisness habits; can say a whole lot for the sexiness of the bikes he has behind the windows...

Personally I had no trouble dealing with Kia. I ordered the wrong part and he quickly changed the order within the hour of me e-mailing. I have ordered from there 3 times and received the parts on time and at the quoted price. I know other people have had problems. There was a thread about this before in this form. Try a search for more opinions.

I bought a stem online from him... dirt drop, I entered as a comment a question: if it would be cheaper to send it USPS... I got an email from him within an hour saying USPS would be cheaper and that he had just put it out in the mail. Days later it arrived... from time of order I think I had the stem in 3 days, to Mass.

Speaking of Momovelo, I'm digging that Royal Milktea bike alot! It's more my style than my own bike is!

Yea, I had a similar experience with some MKS and straps last spring. But I visited in August and his shop was gone and the local word was that he had shut down or scaled back to a minimum. I wish he would get his own voice heard and clear the air because his site rocks and I would like to order from him if need be.

Hmmm... well, I ordered something from Momo before seeing any of this stuff. Ordered it about three weeks ago, haven't heard anything. After seeing this thread I sent him an email to check in on my order status.

We'll see how it goes, I'll report back here at some point.

I put together a $200+ order. My card was authorized the same day, but a few days later the charge was dropped (basically, he never finalized the charge, and my money came back). I emailed to ask him what was up, and was ignored. Tried again a few days later, got ignored again. Finally I emailed him to ask that he consider the order cancelled, unless he could muster the effort to respond to my message.

That was a couple of months ago and I've never received a single message from him. I'm guessing he doesn't really like it when people try to buy stuff.

I just looked at my accounts and it turns out I wasn't charged either.

Uh, okay, whatever.

I ordered a Brooks saddle and Nitto seatpost from Momovelo more than 1 month ago. I received an initial order confirmation email immediately, but have heard nothing since. I didn't necessarily expect these items quickly, but I would at least like an update occasionally. I have just sent my second email 5 minutes ago before discovering, by reading this bulletin board, that I'm not the only person with this problem. I read elsewhere that the Momo store in Berkely has been closed and the phone number was recently disconnected, according to a Berkeley Chamber of Commerce type site.

Spread the word!!! DO NOT BUY FROM MOMOVELO!! I ordered a folding bike from them February 2nd, 2004. My confirmation said it would be shipped within 24 hours but it never arrived. I contacted him after a couple weeks and said he would be in in a month so I opted to wait. The production of the bike (Dahon) has continuously been put back to where they are now forecasting January 15th, 2005. I don't blame Momovelo for the production of the bike but they have refused to respond to numerous e-mails about refunding my money or changing the order to something in stock. They don't have a valid phone number and have a history of horrible customer service!!
