Woo, I'm 5'11 on a 50cm (I ride a 54cm roadie, and it's still a bit long).

Curse these short legs and arms.

Finally registered after weeks and weeks of lurking.
Here's a picture of my Kilo. Nothing fancy, but does the job quite well.
Next thing I'm looking to upgrade is the saddle, anybody here rocking a selle italia turbo or a Fizik Aliante (2 of my choices so far)? What are your thoughts on these saddles?

Short legs and arms? Wouldn't that just put you on your regular sized frame? I have long legs so I usually get smaller frames to get a shorter top tube, and I know people with longer torsos get larger frames to get a longer top tube.

Everybody is different, he could have a small torso also.

Think about it, when we say 'short torso' or 'short legs' we really mean in proportion to your other body parts. If everything is short then you are just short.

Now I'm worried, I ordered a 50cm with a 30inch inseam and I'm 5'6. Bikes direct email recommended that size to me when I asked them.

That's not a bad recommendation for size, I think you'll be okay.

Nice looking bike, I've always like the fully chrome Kilos. What is up with that cable routing though, you could easily cut a foot off the cable and retoute it.

Indeed, I didn't think about that. Lol

There must be an explanation for his fit, unless it's incorrect.

I'm about 5'7" with a 31.5" inseam and ordered a 53, I ride 56 on everything else... so we'll see.

I rode a 54 road conversion that was too small, then I built up a 56 SSR track frame that never totally felt right. Hopefully this one is the sweet spot.

(will post pics when built up to my liking)

No, it affects my standover and my reach. On my Scott I had a 54, and I had to get a shorter stem because the bike was still a bit long for me. Your reasoning makes sense for legs, but you forgot that I also have short arms.

I'm sorry, I'm not trolling but I really don't get it. I understand the issue with standover. But in order for you to be 5'11" something on you has to be long. If you have short legs and short arms, you'd have a long torso, which would compensate for a longer top tube.

Unless your head and neck are abnormally long, in which case, there's nothing wrong with that and I'm sorry I bothered you :\

Hahaha I know you're not trollin. I'm not quite sure how it works, I do have a pretty big head. Hahaha. But I slam my nuts on a 58, I'm overextending on a 56, and a 54 is real close to just right, but I always seem to be having problems with reach. THEN AGAIN when I first got the Scott, I was 30lbs heavier and not as flexible, so that may have affected reach a bit. That being said, I went with the 50cm Kilo because it was the closest to 54cm I could get. It feels pretty good, maybe a bit small due to the compact geometry compared to a roadie, but I haven't had the chance to try a 53cm Kilo to see if I purely just made the wrong choice Sorry for the long reply.

Just as a fun point, I also used the Competitive Cyclist fit calculator and it throws me on a 54cm as well

No worries. I was just gonna say, if it works than there's no use arguing! There's nothing wrong with a competitive fit. One of my bikes is fitted that way for me

I'm not totally sure, and I don't have a measuring tape on me at the moment. When I was looking at bikes, they recommended me something in the 56-60cm range, and I decided that it was better to get a bike that was a little too small than a little too big. I'm really happy with the 55cm right now.

Yeah I was looking to cut the headset at some point and will eventually cut the cable together with it. Just got the frame a few days ago and I'm still breaking stuff in.

Also, I saw your bike. Its really nice. I was wondering what your thoughts are on the profile aqua rack? I get raelly thirsty on my rides and it would be great to have bottle holders (I just put bottles in my jersey pockets). I was looking to get that same one but heard that it hits people's bums and thighs even. Does it hold the bottles tight too?

Thanks man!

You do have to install pedals as well, just remember they tighten in the direction you pedal. It is VERY easy to assemble the rest of the bike if you have any bike knowledge at all. Don't forget to grease and tighten EVERYTHING. Check and double check you didn't miss anything.
