Pricepoint has great pedal+shoe combo's...but if you want shoes, nashbar has a good selection. Also try LBS for sales. I got mine so cheap because I am an REI member and getting shoes is what I used my dividend on.

I wanted to try out a Clipless setup because I love the way straps feel when I can get them tight, but every set of shoes is different and its quite difficult to get the straps on quick and easily.
I am not much of a fan of the Velcro straps, but I do love the clincher. Definitely recommended for people who want a very snug fit. I set the tension on the pedals to the easiest. After about a mile I felt the desire to tighten them up, but resisted as I didn't have many stops and wanted to make sure I felt comfortable un-clipping. Which by the way is very easy. Squirrelli suggested I go with a single release instead of the multi so I wouldn't get so confused with the different exit points, and I have to agree.

Well that's a bit of an exaggeration. You can wear shoes without cleats and still have foot retention. That sounds like a benefit to me...
I think if I make the switch to clipless (MTB or road), I'll still carry my Vans with me so I can switch out when I go to class.

no reason you cant walk in spd shoes. hell, ive walked 10 miles in my spd shoes in my last 2 bike rides.
and if you think about it, you have 25% efficiency with platforms, 50% with clips/straps and 100% with clipless.

Where did you pull these numbers from? I can do 20mph easy with clips/straps with my current setup. So if I go clipless I will be doing 40mph no problem??? Why didnt anyone tell me this before???

On the bike, clips and straps have nothing on clipless; off the bike, regular shoes barely beat MTB shoes but definitely beat road shoes.
wearing bike shoes to class is b****ing because everybody is like 'wow check out that hardcore fixie bro'.

congrats on buying pedals and shoes, great job. now you have the ability to be more efficient*... about those risers...
*going clipless is only half the battle, now you need to consciously work on your pedal stroke. lower your ratio and practice spinning circles.
